how can a seller get it so wrong? ordered something from queensland. i live in country south australia. i get a tracking number from 'fastaway' couriers. i check the number today as today was the last day of the predicted delivery time.
i discover my items in perth and there is a message attached saying they have been unable to deliver my item! possibly because i dont live in perth i suspect but who knows.
i just dont get it, when i sell something on ebay i get all the information i require to safely send it to my buyer. only i can screw it up by not sending it where its supposed to go.
just as well its a cheap item and i didnt need it in a hurry.

That's fine...those are the rules...however I never buy from, nor sell to, anybody who elects to hide their f/b. Feedback is there so we know something of the background of who we may be dealing with. I know many other ebayers who feel the same, and don't wish to deal with people who choose to hide behind "private" f/b. Mine is open for all to see...and I'm very proud of it. I've never had a neu or neg as a buyer or seller in near 20 years on ebay.

You can't sell on eBay if your feedback is hidden so it is not a choice to make when you are buying.
Unfortunately sellers cannot choose to not sell to buyers that make their feedback hidden.
I too don't wish to deal with a buyer that chooses to hide their feedback. The feedback that buyers leave other sellers often speaks volumes about the type of buyer you are dealing with in a transaction.
It is one of the few ways available that sellers can proactively "manage a level of risk" (eg. by registering letter post so its tracked where a buyer has history of not receiving) or reference in an appeal to eBay to get unfair feedback removed (if buyer has unusual history of leaving negative feedback for sellers).

Not sure.
Maybe the same way that I know that you would know I would feel the need to comment.

You really have no choice wan, you don't get to choose whether or not you sell to a buyer with private feedback, there are no filters for the seller to block PFB buyers, and as for NOT buying off a private FB again no choice, as a seller it is impossible have private FB.
In addition (hilighted in red above) a 100% positive for a buyer means nothing, they can not receive negatives, so moot point really.
I understand you have been on eBay a long time, but things have changed in 20 years, A LOT! ......and not all for the better sadly.

It doesn't make much difference whether you can see a buyer's feedback or not. They could be the biggest scammer out and have nothing to indicate it in their feedback. I've had the odd low feedback buyer who's been registered for years and never paid me. How many others have they done this to - if a seller opens a non-payment case they can't leave feedback so there'll be nothing in the buyer's feedback even if they've done it a thoursand times.
It's not often I bother looking at my buyers' feedback. Why go looking for trouble when you don't have to? I could stress about all the possible indicators of trouble but it may turn out that I've stressed for nothing, and stress isn't good for my health so I'd prefer to avoid it.

It does make a difference - just not to you.
