i have received a second chance offer which i took up, great apparently the winner chose not to go ahead with the purchase.

. But when i look I see that there were 4 other bidders higher than me some of which were quite a lot higher, how come??

It just means that they also refused to take up the second chance offer before you so the seller then goes down the order as the seller must want to sell it no matter as they don't wish to relist it so you are the next lucky customer that can take the offer if you wish too.

It may also mean that the seller has more of the same item for sale.

How experienced is the seller?

A seller can send a second chance offer to all underbidders, and may mean they have multiple quantities of the item which they're prepared to sell for the bid prices....or it may mean they've misunderstood what the second chance offer is for - if the seller seems to have little to no experience with selling and so forth, I'd probably message them and clarify things before taking the offer up.

So what you are saying is that the seller has enough of the item to give every bidder a second chance offer at the price they lost the bid at,so the seller is willing to sell at all the second chances just to make the sales,I agree that this is a possibility.

I don't think this is the case  I can only assume as said before that she misunderstood the second chance offer system and sent it to all bidders, just lucky I think that I responded quicker than everybody else. Time will tell, again many thanks to you all
