lyndal 1838  I think you have the impression I am not listening to you .

I just want to say yes I am listening and yes I have contacted Paypal and yes the matter is sorted and Paypal will refund.

Now as for the seller I have contacted him once again and asked him did he receive A payment .

This time he did reply to me and he has told me No .

So I have told him if he agrees with me this is what we do.

I told him after I receive payment back from Paypal I will let him know and then I want him to send me a new invoice and I will pay the account .

I think I might just cross my fingers & toes and hope everything goes through OK .

Once again thanks for the advice .

If your payments were funded by a credit or Visa debit card it will take a few days for the money to go back to your account.  It does not go into your paypal account although you should be able to see that a refund has been initiated if you look at the transactions in your paypal account.

It hardly seems fair to make the seller wait for his payment because you cancelled the payments.  He has done nothing wrong.

And just for interest....how long did it take for the seller to reply from the time you sent the first email.  You do realise that not all sellers are online 24/7?  Some of them have other jobs and are only on ebay a few days a week, or at night after they get home.

This is the time line of the conversation with the seller.

Myself 22-6 , I am the winner of your auction for your mini coins and I have tried to make payment for them twice now and for some reason my payment is not going through to your account. Could you please adjust your account settings so my payment can go through to your account.

Seller replied 22-6 with this , I hope you have recived your recite thanks .

My self 22-6, Because I was having problems trying to pay him I then wrote and said, could you please adjust your settings and send me a invoice so I can pay for this item asap.

After that I didn't hear again from till tonight when I sent this to him , I would like to know have YOU RECEIVED a payment from me for this auction of coins that I have won. I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible please. Finally after 2 days I got a reply tonight this is the reply,

Seller Not as yet I amtrying to find out from ebay what is haperning

Myself I wrote back and told him if he agreed with me when I have seen that Paypal has refunded I will get him to send a new invoice and I will pay him when I get it .

Seller then replied with this > That will be grate thanks .

I then respond with this reply > ok now we are gettings things sorted out .

I will let you know when I have received the payment from eBay then we go from there. ( my mistake I meant to say Paypal ) .

Seller then replied with this > No thank you .

Then I replied with this > I donโ€™t understand what you are saying No to ?.

And that is as far as I got.

All I have tried to do is pay for this auction. It has been frustrating because I don't like owing anyone anything and I always pay instantly for any thing I win on auction or buy straight out.

And for the past 3 days I just didn't get anywhere.

I am not used to having problems paying.

I suppose you learn something new everyday and in my case I have learned not every payment goes smoothly with ebay.

I have a feeling that the seller is not going to send the coins to you.   That would be my interpretation of the messages between you.

You did in fact receive a quick reply to your initial enquiry as to whether he had received payment and I doubt if he understood why you asked him to adjust his account settings....there was nothing wrong with them.

What it amounts to is that you cancelled several payments to the seller and I have a feeling he wants nothing more to do with it.

When the refunds have been processed the item should then show up in your purchase history as waiting to be paid for.  You can try again to pay but it will only work if the seller has not cancelled the transaction and blocked you.

I actually had a situation ages ago where a payment of mine somehow processed twice - because it was for the same amount to the same seller, my bank actually picked it up.  They contacted me to verify if it should have been one or two payments & voila - it was fixed instantly.  I would not be at all surprised in this instance, since paypal are aware of the problem if they only refund two of the payments and allow one to go through as normal - as I have always found paypal to be very helpful & professional.

Poor seller is undoubtedly very confused, but hopefully if just one payment goes through without any more intervention, the order will just appear as paid and all will be good - hopefully.

fjg260902 I hope all goes well from here, you may need to be patient though until it is clear everything has been fixed.  I understand you are trying to do the right thing, but I think that may have confused & even upset the seller.

Just my thoughts  :-  If anything, to salvage the situation, I would send the seller a simple message saying you are re-capping the current situation  & apologise for any confusion  (a little crawling never does any harm, lol)

  • there has been an error
  • funds were deducted 3 times from your account and
  • paypal are still sorting it out.
  • Assure the seller you do still want the items and that you will advise them when everything is fixed.

Once it is sorted, and depending how paypal end up fixing it, then start again - but as said in another post, the item should still be appearing in your Purchase History and you will be able to see the payment status there.

Good luck.

so many messages.  I too think that the seller is confused.  They may be using modern grammar and spelling techniques.  Gone are the days of commas etc.  Try re-reading the sellers message that I have pasted below.  When reading the reply he gave pause where there is a comma.  It changes the whole meaning of what they wrote.  It also makes your reply of "what are you saying No to?" confusing as well.

Seller then replied with this > No, thank you! .

Then I replied with this > I donโ€™t understand what you are saying No to ?.

And that is as far as I got.

See how it now looks?  They were thanking you, not saying "No" to what you wrote.

BUT, then again, I might be totally off-base.  Either way, in future, give time for pending payments to clear (4-7 days) AND don't send so many messages

Thank you everyone.

I have heard back from the seller in regard to my asking what he meant by saying No  and this is what he said >  Wrong word at the beginning I ment to say thank you sorry .

So that has cleared that up well at least I think it has LOL.

In regard to not receiving the coins that it is a matter of waiting to see if they arrive.

The seller did send me a sent notice for the items before all this mess started which I thought was a bit fast on his part but I can only take his word for it at this point in time .

It has been a little difficult conversing with the seller because of the way he speaks and the spelling of his words but I think we might be on the same page finally.

The trouble I get myself into sometimes it must be old age LOL.

It could be, lol as it's a changing world, particularly the practises we see here these days.  I think you could do yourself a big favour though by moving the panic button a little bit further away - ultimately, a little more patience could alleviate a lot of stress . . . .   I say that in the nicest way, no offence intended.  Sadly, as I've gotten older (maybe wiser ? maybe not !) I too have become far more wary and it's easy to jump the gun at times.  The good old days of being able to trust almost everyone, leave your car & house unlocked are long gone and we (well myself at least) now tend to be way more sceptical and mistrusting and that of course now also applies to everything online as well.  Sad really . . . . . . .

Hopefully all goes smoothly from here with the transaction . . . . .  keep us posted eh Smiley Happy
