what a joke I've been a good eBay buyer for over a decade in last 2 weeks the bs I've gone through to return item that was not correct . eBay new system works against the buyer and very complicated

I'm closing acc as soon as i get my money 29 bucks big deal but i will on principle. ebay has done zero to make this easy . ive spent well over 3 hours on this . its clearly designed so you walk away ,

no more from me .

It's clear that you haven't read or understood how eBay protects buyers.

I doubt eBay will miss your 20 purchases per year.

Due diligence is all up to you.

Not ebay's fault you bought from a seller with 27 negs - just in the last month....and 180 for the year.

I wouldn't buy from someone after reading that feedback.

eBay is all about the buyer

What happened after you opened the item not as described case that caused such issues?

What I can't work out is that you bought something from one business and left negative feedback for them,   then you went back and bought again, and left another negative.  If you werent happy the first time, why go back for a second dose of punishment.

You would think a bad experience would be a turn off but I can sort of understand the OP's position. It looks to be a specialised sort of thing he is looking for, aquarium and pond supplies and what have you, so perhaps this is one of the biggest Australian sellers for this type of thing or perhaps it has a big range and the OP was tempted to give them a second chance 6 months later. After all, they have thousands of positive sales under their belt too and we're not talking about a major purchase.

What I am wondering is just how Jax has gone about trying to return the item. Did he actually open a claim, and how did the system work against him? He says he spent 3 hours on this. I haven't had to make any claims so i can't swear to this but I thought it was pretty well automated and after a person opened an official claim they could finalise it a few days later with very little effort or time invested. And that normally ebay would side with a buyer, especially if there is any evidence eg maybe a photo.

For an Australian based seller, wouldn't the seller have to provide a postage label to return the item?

I am wondering if Jax came to a private arrangement with the seller to return an item, had trouble with getting the refund and contacted ebay after that? I don't know, I am just confused it seems to be all that hard to get a resolution.

If ebay isn't forthcoming though, I'd definitely try paypal because $29 or not, it is the principle of the thing, as Jax said. It's a shame it has turned you right off ebay as I think most of the sellers are okay.

I get what you are saying,  but not for me,  there are hundreds of specialised aquarium/ pond shops around, we have 3 within about 10 K of us.  Heaps more on the internet.

Just look at their bad feedback, and the fact they have already done the dirty once,  no second chance from me.

There is this little thing called the eBay money back guarantee - suggest you read up on it

Personally I think eBay shouldn't offer the money back guarantee, to people who are silly enough to purchase a second time from a business they have had issues with in the past.   Why should eBay step in to help out obvious silliness
