i have dealt with a seller i never want to use again.  why wont ebay allow me to blacklist him (to me) if i ever accidently use him again.

i can mark someone as a 'preffered' seller- but not an undesirable seller.

Re: seller blacklist facility

PS Actually I just went into My ebay to look at a few things in my saved items and it does already show.

If you have bought from a seller before, it will say so. It just doesn't list what you bought exactly so i suppose over time if you had a few purchases, you could firget exactly what you bought from them.

I think Digital Ghost has given you the best strategy. Since ebay doesn't let you block sellers, do as digi says and add only the bad sellers to your watched list and add a comment in capitals, something like AVOID.

I know it would mean checking the list before a purchase if you suspected it could be the same person, but could help.

My main worry though is some sellers have more than one selling account, which means even if you avoid them under one name, you might strike them under another. Your best bet, overall, is to always have a quick look at feedback and seller's location, whoever they are.

Re: seller blacklist facility

By far the easiest and quickest way to keep your own list of sellers you don't want to buy from is to put them on your blocked list and then bookmark it so it's easy to access (I have a link to it on my seller hub overview). I know it's actually designed to block buyers but you can use it the other way too. I'm not sure whether a non-seller can access a blocked list, but for anyone who's ever sold anything it'd work.

The blocked list is in alphabetical order so every time you're thinking of buying something you only need to check whether that seller's ID is on the list. If they've changed their name/ID since you bought from them, the new name is what shows on the list so you don't need to worry about remembering or knowing their old name. It'd be better than following them because if a seller has a lot of followers other potential buyers may think they're okay, but if ebay ever changes the 'following' system you may lose it all.

If you buy a lot on ebay it'd be a bit of extra work to check all the time but probably worth it if anyone has a few people they don't want to buy from again.

Re: seller blacklist facility

It helps a lot when the sellers are also buyers who use the same ID so it's a double whammy

Re: seller blacklist facility

would ebay be better if you could chose which posts to remove?

Re: seller blacklist facility

No.

The current way is nominally objective. Your way would be entirely subjective and result in a thread only containing posts that conform to the OP's paradigm, which would be useless for members looking for actual information.

Re: seller blacklist facility

countess, thank you for in depth analysis of my buying patterns, however some of your assumptions are way off the mark.  yes, i do often purchase from chinese suppliers because of price as it can often be a fraction of australian pricing for an identical product.

many of my purchases have been 'geeky' types of products that i am just curious about and i lose interest in within days of the purchase.  some other products wear out from constant use....so i order more from china.

i dont have the aversion to chinese products that many here have.

since ebay is unlikely to implement my suggestion, i will follow some of the excellent alternative ideas that have been posted here.
