Hello I bought an item from ebay, seller provided a tracking number all looks sweet. My item posted on Friday, then last tracked Sunday, today I am checking update in themorning and it said it is loaded for delivery untill I notice the delivery in schedulded in Victoria and I am in Tasmania. So it was eather shipped to wrong adress, or I was given a fake number.
. I call customer service for australia post they put a note but saying that its nearly impossible to track it back as its delivered by bike postie. Seller isnt responding for my mail and I cant open item not recieved case , because it showed item was delivered.
Is it a new loophole for the ebay scammers? Anything I can do in this case? The ripp off question is worth 75$

Take screenshots of the AP tracking information, then if you need to open a dispute with eBay you can upload those details into the dispute. You should win the dispute because you can show the item was delivered to a different state.
I had a similar case a while back and the parcel showed delivered to Toowoomba and I'm in WA.

Wait until the delivery date has passed. Might just be a mis-interpretation of the tracking info.

I had no trouble opening an "item not received" case with eBay, as gutter says wait until the ETA has passed then try opening a case.
Otherwise you may have to phone eBay and get them to manually open a dispute for you after the ETA has passed.

I've done this a few times now - as a seller, I mean. That is, accidentally uploaded the wrong tracking number to an order. I may have even done it more times than I'm aware of, as the only time I've known about it is when a buyer contacts me and says something doesn't look right with the tracking.
It's a bad scam if that was the seller's intention, since deliberately sending a package to a completely different state won't help them in the event of a dispute, which makes the chances of it being a genuine error a little bit higher.
It's discomfiting when a seller doesn't reply - was the message through eBay, or directly to an email address? I have about 7 email addresses that I maintain, and that emails from sites like eBay arrive to - only two of those addresses are monitored daily though. I'm on the site daily so I don't miss any messages through DMs, but if someone got my email address and sent a message there, in some cases I might not know for weeks.

My boss used the company order account to order an item last week - item location was listed as "Botany, NSW". The item was immediately marked as posted, and a tracking number supplied - which didn't work.
It's a Fastway Couriers number. I messaged the seller, asked for the correct tracking number. They explained that they don't have one, as the item is being sent via Australia Post and there's no tracking for it.
So - they've deliberately given a false tracking number from a different service to cover their backside in case of a dispute!
Naturally, I checked the seller's feedback (my employer hadn't thought to do that) - and it's every bit as bad as you'd expect.
I haven't started any sort of case yet, as it's still within eBay's specified delivery time-frame and may yet arrive OK, but seriously - the seller has knowingly given a false tracking number...
