what to do if you find a 'bidding' suspicious

im currently bidding on an item. and im finding that im being outbid within a mile second.... it seems very quick to be outbid by exactly 10 or 20cents more even before the page fully loads.
And ive looked at the bidders and they all have names like (eg. a***a) should I be concerned if im bidding in a 'shill bidding' and should I report it?
I really want this item >_< lol heellppp??

thanks for the link in Post #4 Kazbar, always good to remind myself of the increment amounts.  Sometimes I forget, I must be getting old.

But I was paying attention ๐Ÿ™‚

congratulations. I'm sure everyone finds your contribution to be very helpful.

I often answer question with additional details, as much for others reading as for the OP, even if it has been covered somewhat by other posters.

Sometimes it is nice to have the links to the actual ebay policies to refer to.

If you are not happy with that you are welcome to put me on ignore or you could find something constructive to do with your time ๐Ÿ™‚

lol stop being petty. it's always good to have other people add their own input or provide additional information. many people here do it and it can only benefit the OP's understanding.

Re: what to do if you find a 'bidding' suspicious

hi guys I have read all your comments with interest but I to have been out bid with in the last millisecond of the auction I had the winning bid right up and until the last 30seconds or so then the price shot up and so did the number of bidders, bearing in mind that all indications were that I had won the bid and still had money in reserve to cover any higher increases, but how can you win a auction when you can't even have time to increas your bid as there are only seconds to respond

Its the highest bid that wins, not the last so you can really only place a bid that is the highest you are willing to pay for the item (either using ebays proxy bidding system or a sniping service) and hope that no one else is willing to pay more than you.

If you nibble bid (ie put in multiple bids increasing the amount continuously as you are outbid) then you leave yourself open to being sniped in the final seconds.

Re: what to do if you find a 'bidding' suspicious

I am sorry to correct you but to refer to my earlier posting I recently bid on I was the highest bidder up and with in the last minute when the bidding increased sharply I had noticed other bids during the auction and had out bid them, but I can not see how anyone can do multable bids in the last minute, unless there is some sort of software that allows people to do this and if there is why is it not available to all

Kelvin, there are services that will snipe bid in the last few seconds of an auction for you but many of us do our own snipes.

I can and often do place 2 bids in the last 10 seconds, but mainly I do one bid in the last 5 seconds at the highest I want to pay.

There is no point at all in placing nibble bids throughout the auction...it only inflates the price you will pay in the end.
