Can anyone identify this antique blue glass vase, please?

Hi,
I have this blue etched glass vase which was bought at an antique show in Melbourne Australia about 20 years ago. Can anyone tell me of it's origin/make, please? Two photos, one showing the bottom of the vase - no markings that I can see, but I am visually impaired.

Many thanks,

Pam

Re: Can anyone identify this antique blue glass vase, please?

To me it looks like what is known as Bohemian flashed cut glass / crystal, in this case blue cut back to clear. A very big industry in what is modern day Czechoslovakia and surrounding parts, from the mid 1850's and still made today in many places (including Poland as already said.) Usually the older pieces can be detected by weight; modern pieces can be very light weight. Also of course older pieces should have signs of wear to the base (some scratching) and it would be unusual for an intricately cut older piece not to have some "nibbles" to some cut edges. Very hard to tell age from a photo (I can't see the base one.) Occasionally there is an acid etched stamp on the base of older pieces.

Thanks so much for your informative reply. I had a neighbour look carefully at the base, there are no markings on the concave base, but many scratches on the base rim. The vase is very heavy, with absolutely no damage at all, not even a minor chip anywhere. It does seem to be blue cut back to clear glass - the blue stands proud.
Will let you know if I have any further luck with the ID.
Again, many thanks,
Pam.

Thanks for responding, sorry for my delayed reply, I had lots of trouble finding where I had posted this query. I will try your suggestion of google. Cut glass.
Kind regards,
Pam
