A week ago I received a letter ......... from the Queensland Government via Department of Main Roads............

"The Department of Transport & Main Roads and Logan City Council are undertaking a joint investigation to identify a viable corridor for a future motorway known as the Park Ridge Connector. To date, a refined area of interest has been identified within which a future motorway could be constructed on a number of possible alignments.....

YADA YADA YADA

..... your property falls within this refined area of interest and may be impacted by a future alignment............
. "

By all accounts ..... from the very first notification that I have been provided with to date so far ( pending the FIRST of the now notified 5 "planned" community meetings starting from next Wednesday evening ~~~ ostensibly for further info & sighting of THE *ahem-cough* ACTUAL PLAN )........... is that MY home is going to be SMACK-BANG in the middle of this "refined" area and will be BULL-DOZED for a 6-LANE 100km FREEWAY ......

SOOOOOOOOOO ~~~~~~~~ IF the plan gets the go ahead we can say SAYONARA to everything we have developed / planned for / worked towards in retirement.

Suffice to say at present- WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY JAN ?? !!! X-(

Hynes keep fighting. Sheer numbers should make your Council sit up and listen. How about some coverage from TV?

Yes, Hynes, as Missllinda said. Go to the media and let your councilors know that you all will remember their amount of (or nonexsistant) support to your pleight at the next elections.

It is disgusting that councillors don't care what happens to the people in their municipality as long as it does not affect them personally. X-(

Keep your chin up and keep fighting.

Re: Why I could be MIA for a while.........X-(

We did have some TV coverage during the first meeting.

Now get this will ya ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

One van & one cameraman turned up...... Channel 7 camera, Channel 7 T-shirt on the cameraman, Channel 7 on the van and one would expect to see "something" on Channel 7 News the next day wouldn't one???

Nuh-uh ]:) Channel 10 ran it so we didn't get to see HOW they covered the event or HOW it was reported. Political agendas maybe??? Who knows.

One bit of good news this arvo (I guess) was having a written confirmatory reply (by email) from the TMR Project Team that the CLOSING DATE for feedback / submissions which was to be tomorrow 18/11/2011, has magnanimously, for some reason, been extended to Christmas.

HO HO HO BAH HUMBUG.

OH reckons the Ministers' staffers have been whinging about having to actually do some work & answer so many phone calls and deal with so many emails. LOL.

BUT - the TMR website has still not been updated to reflect that extension time advice - I was told in my initial phone call to them at 8.30am today that this would be done today!! Checked again with a phone call at 11.00am. Still waiting.

If they can't get that one simple thing right it's just par for the course anyway as they didn't even have the courtesy of advising every property owner who would be totally impacted or even partially impacted by this "planned new road". Surely it's not too hard in this day & age with technology and rates notices to properly identify & communicate with every relevant property owner????

One of TMR's excuses that was heard at one of the public displays was that "they ran out of time". Excuse me?????

Of course one has to be cynical now as to whether anything submitted will "rooley & trooley" be considered after midnight tomorrow ?? That's anyone's guess too.

The left hand of Govt does one thing and the right hand does the other.

Hynes, have you googled Channel 10 News?
You can choose the episode and watch the video.

Thanks Erica. I did look there Thurs or Fri last week but couldn't find where to find that specific night's episode?? Did see where you could select certain videos of other stories but not this particular one. Will go have another look. Could have missed it seeing as how my head is in other places at present.

No luck with finding the TV telecast. Not to worry.

TMR website still hasn't been updated to tell people an extension of time has been given.

I mentioned before that I had earlier received a confirmatory email from the project team stating that the closing date for submissions had been extended until Christmas.

Many Many Many people have been verbally told that and sent & received emails of confirmation too since Wednesday 16/11.

But how's about this gem?????:O

18/11/2011 Be advised the Minister this afternoon approves a two week extension to the public consultation period for PRC. It will now officially close on Dec 2.

If the State Govt can't get a simple thing as an extension of time correct
Photobucket even within their own team, then how the dickens can we be confident in them??

You know, when we have an election next year, and get a new State Government, they will most likely throw the whole project out the door.

If that doesn't work think how the people stopped the Mary River dam, maybe they can give you a few pointers.

One can only hope that will be the case Wilma.

Yes - good thinking on Traveston !!

But the Govt still managed to destroy people's lifestyle & upset families to BUY out some 490 properties beforehand, some did lease them back but there is no way I am going to be paying rent to this Govt on something that I have owned outright for years just because they want to kick us out to carve up paradise for a FREEWAY for TRUCKS. X-(

I don't think it was the Qld Govt that saw sense & stopped the dam, wasn't there some sort of intervention by the Australian Govt???

I remember it all happening just not the details....... and I think 20 year leases or somesuch were involved for those that chose to stay but the ones that took the pittance offered then had to pay capital gains tax if they hadn't spent the money buying another property within 2 years of the resumption.

Peter Garrett vetoed the mary river dam, he might be the one to lobby. A good indicator of the LNP's intention's would be watching for signs of Campbell Newmans wife buying up land in the area.
