TODAY'S EVENT - 3.3.2012 ........ was another "Peaceful Protest" held on the roadside adjacent to 292 Browns Plains Road ~~~ the centre of attention as this privately-owned 200-odd acres will bear the brunt of environmental vandalism IF the extension of the Gateway Motorway goes through. Apart from it being sliced & diced down the middle, the remainder of this ecologically significant tract of land is mooted to become Medium Residential if Logan City Council has it's way - the current owners do NOT want this to happen.
Even though the weather wasn't the best today - with an early downpour around dawn and drizzle for a little while......it fined up for a few hours and the turn out of residents was absolutely AMAZING !!!
The HONKS & THUMBS UP ... even some people YAHOO-ing and 1/2 hangin' out car windows in passing cars / trucks was AMAZING !!!
Even had a Police car go by and they put the WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP siren & flashing lights on and waved..... also AMAZING because we didn't have a Police Permit :^O
The number of people that stopped specifically to SIGN THE PETITION was AMAZING !!!
The sausage sizzle was DELICIOUS too !!! Needed that after expending energy dancing on the back of our ute parked at the entrance ~~~- LOUD battery-powered sound system did well ( sorry - LOL - no-one took a pic 😞 ) LOL LOL LOL Ricky Martin eat your heart out !!!!
For more pics go to www.noprc.org and click on "RECENT PHOTOS" towards the bottom left 😉
The CONGA LINE down the roadside was AMAZING !!!

Hynsie you are in a vacuum because you don't know what is going to happen, but, you are fighting for all you are worth, I really hope you all suceed. People power is becoming more and more important these days. Councils and Governments are realising that we won't stand by and let them do whatever they want. Keep up the good work.

How about starting a partition on ebay, maybe on the discussion board, if allowable.
Then send it all to the "powers that be" starting with your local member. I am attempting something as well but not to do with roads and I have started with my local mayor then straight to our local member who is a federal member as well. I have a meeting with him on 12th march at my office and will fight to change an out of date law.SOOOOO, fight, fight and don't let these so called buracrats bluff you, they are only being nice to appease you and next week will not even remember your name.
I would be privlaged to sign your partition.

Guess it's about time I did an UPDATE !!!
Well now - lots has happened and nothing has happened IYKWIM.
Definitely correct there about "the vacuum" Missllinda - we just keep on 'sucking it in' and grinning & bearing and trying to live our lives as close as possible to what we had planned to do in retirement .... before this CR*P eventuated !! Except we are not spending on anything around the place. Instead we are saving money as I can't see the point in painting inside & out now nor renovating our bathroom which does need freshening after 18 years - tank water staining & several cracked tiles.
Anyhoooo we have now gone through TWO Elections (State & Local) - the waiting waiting waiting for finalisation of election results in both was just soooo frustrating because of their timing, so any intending unsuccessful State Candidates were not allowed to nominate at Local level ( for Divisional Councillor or for Mayor ) because the State results weren't declared !!!
Also with the Local elections no-one knew who the Candidates were going to be until nominations HAD closed and it ended up that 4 of the 12 previous Councillors were returned unopposed which meant residents in those Divisions ( yeah that included US ) didn't get a vote because there was no-one else to vote for. Even the Mayor was re-elected unopposed !! but would have had opposition from a candidate who ran at State level. Will be different though in 4 years from now as the State elections will not coincide then.
In the middle of all of that happening we ( as part of the NOPRC GROUP ) have lodged a 300-page complaint with the CMC. Still waiting for advice on that !! Maybe they have a TOO HARD BASKET. Maybe they have had to WAIT just the same as we have.
Have received no further communications at all from the "Project Team" nor anyone in Government - not even from Logan Council who voted FOR the P R * C * of a road back in January - there's not one decent courteous bone there.
Sooooo......currently, we have a whole new set of people to deal with at State level and a partial set at Local level to 'educate' about the error of their predecessor's ways. All of this takes time.
We were particularly heartened by the article in the Jimboomba Times last week..... "Roads Minister wants briefing on PRC plan". We are currently organising a meeting with the NEW Minister, Mr Scott Emerson.
