and I would like to THANK YOU ALL for all your insights, information & education plus your sympathies and well wishes too in my own & my OH's personal ' not so very good times '.

BUT - Now I am about to start on a new & totally foreign journey ...... you might have read posts from me saying that I was "slightly stressed at the moment" ????????????

A week ago I received a letter ......... from the Queensland Government via Department of Main Roads............



"The Department of Transport & Main Roads and Logan City Council are undertaking a joint investigation to identify a viable corridor for a future motorway known as the Park Ridge Connector. To date, a refined area of interest has been identified within which a future motorway could be constructed on a number of possible alignments.....

YADA YADA YADA


..... your property falls within this refined area of interest and may be impacted by a future alignment............. "

By all accounts ..... from the very first notification that I have been provided with to date so far ( pending the FIRST of the now notified 5 "planned" community meetings starting from next Wednesday evening ~~~ ostensibly for further info & sighting of THE *ahem-cough* ACTUAL PLAN )........... is that MY home is going to be SMACK-BANG in the middle of this "refined" area and will be BULL-DOZED for a 6-LANE 100km FREEWAY ......

SOOOOOOOOOO ~~~~~~~~ IF the plan gets the go ahead we can say SAYONARA to everything we have developed / planned for / worked towards in retirement.

Suffice to say at present- WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY JAN ?? !!! X-(

What a shame that the Australian Government DOES NOT even recognise that one of our National Symbols is actually being ENDANGERED !!!!

......... and THAT is very likely to happen in YOUR lifetime.

Otherwise the only place YOUR Grandkids or YOUR Great G'kids will see a Koala will be stuck to a fake tree-stump in a glass display cabinet or floating for Eternity in a jar of formaldehyde in a Museum ............ somewhere !!!!

Sorry - don't know how to translate my sounds of SIGHS of desperation, my sounds of SIGHS of exasperation, my sounds of SIGHS of revelation, my sounds of SIGHS of somewhat "slight" exuberation ( ummmm ??? NOT !!).

Much has been happening lately  >>>> go to  www.noprc.org but of course that website won't show everything we have been going through nor what we have been doing. You really have to be INVOLVED in it all on a personal level to get a grip on the reality of the situation.

We have DONE the griping..... we have DONE the petition stuff..... we have DONE the protest stuff...... we have DONE the emails to all & sundry from every related Govt Dept remotely relevant to ANY matter from the vulnerability of the Koala to the endangerment of the Quoll and any / all other resident wildlife as well as the threats / effects to residents ( many deaf ears in Govt ?:|  at all levels ) ...... and we have poked & prodded wherever it was appropriate to do so....we even lodged a WHOPPING 300 PAGE complaint with the CMC too.  F%KIN' TOOTHLESS TIGERS !!!!  protecting their mates????

The Minister - Scott Emerson - who sooooo graciously deigned &  allowed a meeting of some ummmm  17 minutes duration with just a couple of the affected residents on Wednesday of last week will go down in history for all the wrong reasons. 😮   The roadworks that threaten our home has been called the Park Ridge Connector ....... commonly called PRC by Dept of Main Roads ....... but more commonly called the " PR*C* " of a road by us !!!!!  and Mr Emerson is a PR*C* too.

Yesterday 20/7/2012  I received a REGISTERED POST >>> SIGNED FOR letter.

Yeah well. X-(

The main line in this letter (as emphasised by the underlining of one particular sentence BY THEM  - Qld Govt AKA Main Roads ) was ........  " This corridor location means there is no direct property requirement on your land. "

That sent a signal that I won't have to pack up my life and move in the forseeable future - you would think ?:|.

However, on a deeper note it means that the ACTUAL LOCATION of this 4> 6 lane 100kph extension of the Gateway Motorway will place it just down the bottom of my street - just 3 houses away !!!!!!!  AAARRGGGHHHHH !!!!!!

Another sentence in the letter stated ....... " Whilst your property is not directly impacted by the future main road, we understand you may still have concerns and questions about possible impacts such as amenity and environmental impacts of a future road.  Further planning stages will focus on refining the corridor and investigating options to offset and mitigate such impacts. "

Considering how Campbell Newman is on a SAVING MISSION at the moment to SAVE this beautiful State from going further into debt and he is wielding the sword with various Govt Dept's and spendings etc, one would have to be PRAYING that he will wield the sword toward the Dept of Main Roads sooooooooon P-L-E-A-S-E.

hmmmm - perhaps he could start with the WALLY / WALLYETTE who sent out the letters that told us WE WERE SAFE.......F.F.S !!!!!
