As I prefer to do an online chat and get a record of it, to use as evidence should promised outcome not happen, lack of a phone number isn't a problem for me.
Possibly ebay hope people will use their help function to solve problems.
If you have a problem and describe it on these boards, usually a member will be able to help you or at least point you in the best direction.

Maybe because there isn't one?
How are they 'dishonest eBay' ? I have not seen them advertise they have a customer service phone number for 2025
What is it you need to phone eBay about?
If you have bought something that has not arrived, or is not what is described in the listing, you open and follow through with the appropriate dispute
Is it from the seller whose name start with P that you bought from, despite their terrible feedback? (16 negs in the past month alone, hundreds more prior to that?)
The other one starting with P with even worse feedback (26 negs in the past months alone)
Have you opened and followed through with a dispute and it was rejected by eBay?

Since COVID, eBay has moved almost entirely to chat-based CS.
I’m not saying that eBay doesn’t make their phone details hard to find and access, but they actually don’t provide much phone help, with Live Chat the vastly preferred method.

EBay is full of scams and fraudulent items now, eBay know it, and eBay do nothing about it. In fact that’s why they have no contact numbers, to make it more difficult to report and get an outcome to situations. If eBay was serious about fraudulent sellers, they would work closer with us to stop them, but there is no way to do that. They just continue to let these sellers to their dirty business and in fact are making it more and more easy for them. Very very poor eBay

Please don't try to fob off your personal opinion as fact.
Contrary to the incorrect information you have posted, having a telephone number is not a requirement to lodge a report.
FYI, every last item listed on eBay has an option to report right there on the listing page. This feature is definitely NOT making it more difficult to report items... and no telephone number is required 😉

Great Post from someone who remembers the old days, when eBay had good Trust and Safety teams.
Back then, reports were understood, acknowledged and acted upon.
Sadly, they no longer exist.

What is incorrect about it

Really? Are you serious?
Do you not realise that you actually posted... and I quote.... "they have no contact numbers, to make it more difficult to report".
That is totally incorrect information at best, but IMHO, it's nothing short of a very blatant disregard for the truth.
Again, every last item listed on eBay has a means of reporting right there on the listing page. No telephone number is required to use the tools you are already provided... and it couldn't be simpler.
You're posting your opinion in an area frequented by very experienced members of eBay. We all recognise that it's your opinion, and we all recognise that what you posted is incorrect.
The purpose of my previous post was to inform the less educated of the fact that you've posted incorrect information. It is in no way personal, and in no way having a dig at you. Let's face it, I'd hate to see a newby read your post and be misguided. That's the exact recipe for things to go pear shaped.
