260kg, stuck in her bedroom, who is giving her the food?

If I was stuck in my bedroom because I was 260kg not one member of my family would give me a calorie more than I needed each day to survive.

How can a family let their wife and mother get to such a state?

Sure she needs help but who keeps feeding her?

Oh, it was on A Current Affair.

I didn't see the story but it sounds like an unbearable lifestyle.

what irritates me is that anorexia and bulimia are seen as eating disorders but being obese is seen as being lazy and eating too much.  they are all eating disorders.  there are many reasons why people are obese other than being lazy and just eating too much.  many people have depression and other psychological disorders.

Such is life.

Yes, exactly, easier though for the judgemental to have a go instead of being sympathetic?

It's an eating disorder, vampire is very right and its wrong for people to be so judgemental.  Do you respond this way when someone is anorexic I wonder? It's seems people are program to respond to obesity with disgust.

There are a lot of reasons people become obese but when you are that obese there is normally a mental issue that is causing the problem. You can't deal with the surface issues or place a bandaid on it, this person obviously needs therapeutic help.

Those who feed the obsese excessive amount of food are known as enablers they to need help and support.  They often don't know how to help the person and need support to do so.  It's not cut and dry there are so many issues involved....

Surely 80kgs is getting overweight - that's what I was the day I gave birth to my daughter!!!

Are you short? I'm a smidge over 80kg at the moment and, yes, I'd like to lose a little, but I dont think I'm quite to the point where people should stop feeding me yet 😮

Agrees with punch being slightly overweight does not equal obesity some people need to get a grip.  What matters isn't so much your weight in that range but your health.  Go by what your doctor says.

i never see being obese as being lazy,  a family member is overweight but that is due to her thyroid ,  they are all different factors in a person being overweight it is not all just about being lazy

Food is an addiction to some people. They try not to eat but like a lot of addictions it is very very hard to stop they need help . The thing with food is unlike other addictions you cannot live without it.
