60 Minutes Reporter And Crew Detained in Lebanon.

I hope DFAT manage to get them released, but, reading the article, it is hard to feel much sympathy for them.  I hope they are as frightened and bewildered as those poor children must have been

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the father refusing to bring them home,  there is no evidence these children were being abused or neglected, yet suddenly, they are swooped on at a busstop by four strange men physiclly snatched from their grandmother's side, bundled into a car and  and spirited away to a secret destination. Imagine the sheer terror that  must have caused  them. And all this is being  filmed - not to mention abetted - by a TV crew whose only motive is to provide  sensationalist entertainment for TV viewers  and  boost  ratings and advertising revenue for the TV channel.

While child custody disputes are very often messy affairs, damaging the children the parents are supposed to be fighting for, this issue is really very simple.

Did Tara Brown and the 60 minutes crew have a role in the Illegal ( in Lebanon ) abduction of the children concerned. ????   If so they should face trial and accept the court imposed punishment. If that includes imprisonment for a number of years, so be it.

Sixty minutes would have recieved extensive legal advice from highly paid specialists before galavanting off on this little exercise.  They would have known full well that what they are accused of being involved in was highly illegal. It is a simple case of arrogant, "elite" jounalists showing complete disregard and contempt for the laws of another country, no doubt believing the Australian government ( read taxpayers ) would bail them out if caught.

Sorry, but I havnt got a lot of time for these trashy, tabloid type television shows that make a living by exploiting vulnerable people who find themselves in terrible circumstances. They take these people at their weakest moment, use suggestive, manipulative  interviewing techniques in the hope that they will cry on tellie and then dump them when they have finished their 10 minute story.

What is even sadder is that there appears to be an audience that laps it all up.

Apparently, the father did go to court in Lebanon and was granted custody there.

It would appear that the mother had custody in Australia, her mistake was agreeing to the holiday.

This is now complicated by the fact she has a 3 month old and a new husband in Australia.

She is now offering to give up custody vif the x withdraws the kidnapping charges.

Kidnapping in Channel 9 eyes is obviously a victimless crime. Once you climb over all the "poor me" "poor my mates"

reports from the channel 9 reporters lamenting their colleagues incarceration you then need to wade through the hints that

channel 9 and the um recovery team has also fallen out of love....... hunger games style...... with the feast about to

begin..........so all the while the ass covering techniques are being deployed.

.... nary one zot has been reported re the damage caused (mental and physical) during the childrens kidnapping ordeal,

nothing re the fathers mother, nor their welfare........ If it was advantageous  to channel 9's legal plight to report the

childrens condition and current state of mind then rest assured the media garbage machine would be in full attack

mode......sometimes it's what is not in a news report that points to the real story.

a glaring example in the link below circa 2012...reporters names sound familiar?????

....just the shoe is on the other foot

I particularly like this bit

Reporter: Tara Brown

Producers: Gareth Harvey, Steven Burling

It's been the most public and bitter of family feuds - two parents, four children split across the world and splashed all over the media.

The story begins with a desperate escape. Mum, Laura, flees Italy and her allegedly violent Italian husband, to return home with the couple's four daughters.

Two years later, the Australian Federal Police arrive on the doorstep and literally drag the children onto a plane back to Italy.

Watching those girls struggle against the police and scream for their mother, it all seemed so heavy handed and so wrong.

But there are two sides to every story and this Sunday night for the first time, you'll hear what Dad's got to say.

lmao channel 9 hypocrites

.......some of the questions that channel 9 asked of our government in 2012 are surprisingly pertinent to their own recent

alleged actions

It is  was the biggest international child abduction case in living memory.

An Australian mother kidnaps her four daughters from their father in Italy, claiming he is an abusive monster.

The Australian Embassy in Rome illegally assists in smuggling the girls to Australia.

Two years later the four sisters are dragged kicking and screaming back to their father in Italy.

They were hysterical and confronting scenes we wouldn’t forget easily.

60 Minutes first exposed the mother’s con, the father’s heartache and our embassy’s unforgivable role in 2012.

Now, three years on, for the first time in an exclusive interview with Tara Brown, the girls have their say.
