Been kinda tied up with RL stuff, although I have popped in a few times.

Funny, I would give a Dummies book to my colleagues, but I have a pretty bent sense of humour.

I only have one more present to buy but I've hit a wall. I have completely run out of ideas. Of course it's the birthday/Xmas combination that has done it.

has anyone else ever done a load of washing without putting the washing in the machine

I've done that.  At least the machine gets a clean.

I've also done a 'load' of washing without turning on the taps.

haha don't you get a shock when you go to take the washing out- and there's none there

Yeah, but my machine weighs the washing so it knows how much water it needs.

If there's no washing (or no water turned on) it sounds an alarm.    

An alarm that I haven't heard obviously.
