So long as you have no ethics. Have no pride in your heritage. Don't care about your religious beliefs. Don't mind selling yourself out to big business
No, that doesn't make sense in connection with Australian businesses choosing to get their food products or some of their food products halal certified.
Note - if companies get their products halal certified for export purposes, the cost of certification is paid by consumers overseas.

What "Australian interests" was he selling off?
Religious freedom.
How does obtaining halal ccreditation impinge in any way on his ability to practice his own religion - if he has one?
Freedom of speech.
How does obtaining halal ccreditation impinge in any way on his ability to speak his mind on any subject he chooses?
Freedom of choice.
How does making a business decision to meet the requirements of one customer impinge in any way on his ability to make other choices in respect of other customers?
All those reasons immigrants flocked here in the aftermath of WWs 1 and 2
Like the freedom to observe their own religious practices,to cater - if they so choose - for those whose religious practices might be different from their own, to run their businesses in the manner they see fit and to optimise their commercial opportunities in any way that is legal

@ccc085 wrote:What a lot of you people of little knowledge seem to realise is that any food or product can be consumed by muslims simply by reciting a simple pray over it before using. The halal certifacation industry is a money scamming non tax paying scam. WHY do they need to certify milk bottles or plastic bags and cloths it's a scam and you really need to do a bit of simple research to find the truth
Do they get halal certification for those products?
Milk itself doesn't need halal certification, why would they want milk bottles certified?

keep up your anti halal campaign - who knows how many jobs it will destroy in Australia - Go team Arstraya
Jobs in Australia shouldn't be dependant on religious belief fgs. We've just managed to throw off the religious shackles of christianity and now you want us to bow down to another middle-eastern religion. Get outta here!

Yes, they are the same, both religious requirements. However, I only posted the above just to show what others are being 'fed', also not a religous issue over the board, anti-Muslim only.
Re jobs/job creation.
You think a person living in South Aust (high unemployment rate) would not jump at the chance to get a job in a yoghurt factory? The fact the yoghurt might have a halal label or not wouldn't even factor in their decision.

My point is that this company should not be sidelined for it's renunciation of Halal certification. That would be un-Australian. Wouldn't it?
The company has not been 'sidelined' by Australians - Emirates Airways has simply cancellled its contract because its product no longer meets that airlines requirements. Are you advocating that Emirates should somehow be forced to continue to do business with it?

Telling others if you don't like it (it being anything) go live in another country is a common retort, which is not at all a reasonable suggestion/order.
