I don't think it is stupidity, some are just very naughty, I know of 2 children who were diagnosed with it but it turns out their mother drank heavily during pregnancy, they were diagnosed with adhd by many so called educated experts etc and they were completely wrong about it. Those children were medicated.

I am not disbuting that some are misdignosed as it is with many things. But it takes trained experts and a lot of time to come to the right conclusion,

It is real, I have seen it in action.
Some children can have quality of life without medication, some can't.
There will always be some who use it as an excuse. There will always be misdiagnosis until/if, they find a test for it.
