Hi all Had parent teacher interview today.Darcy is doing well in class. But I was shocked when the teacher told me exactly how much funding has been allocated to Darcy for an aide.He is eligable for a whole 2 hours a week. This breaks down to 24 minutes a day. When we first got funding I had been told that he would get 3 half days a week.Tomorrow Im ringing the Dept of Ed to find out why he only has 2 hours and what do they expect to achieve in 24 minutes a week.Lets hope that I get an answer.

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

Thanks Lisa, the ED school concept sounds like a good one!

I really hope it works out for you and that there are lots of positive results from it all.

mapalarkin wow how frustrating. I am not sure how it works where you are but push safety (ie is he a flight risk etc etc)and duty of care with the department.

Ask for them to reconsider or even take you through the process of appeal. If you do appeal though, ensure you also have a letter from your pead or similar backing up one of the assessment criteria. It helps.

Some years back they took funding away from one of my daughters completely, Pead wrote a letter regarding safety and hygiene in line with the disability criteria for schools and presto it reappeared.

Hopefully you won't have too much hassle though. Good luck!

When we first applied for funding the fellow from dept of ed told us the worse it sounds the more we get.He put down Darcy is always tripping over etc and that he would need an aid in the playground just to watch him and starnger danger etc because Darcy day dreams so much but the principle said thats normal for all kids and we couldnt make it out to be really bad which is really great considering he has kept a lot of secrets from the Dept of Ed about goings on at the school including a child being assulted. The Dept will be haring from me tomorow.

Good luck mapalarkin

Please let us know how you get on ๐Ÿ™‚

well I'm off for a trip to meet another homeschooling family today, but will check back later to see how you went.

If you have the medical evidence that lines up with the criteria then it makes me think that maybe the school haven't handled the application properly. I really hope you get some answers HUGS:-x

Hi Jenni, welcome to our little group :-x
I know it sucks, but all you can do is wait and try to hold yourself together until you can get in to see a paed, and unfortunately then there is no guarantee ๐Ÿ˜ž

Hey mapalrakin,
I know it was an while ago now, but when I was 1st given 1.5 days funding for my boy I promptly walked into my local mp's office took a seat and told them I wasn't leaving until he got off his butt and took an interest in his local community. I was wild, I think I scared him when he realised after 3hours I was still there and I had bought a coffee flask, sandwiches, blanket and pillow ๐Ÿ™‚ Any how he ended up coming to the school the following week, got his boof head in the local paper for being some sort of caring soul!!!!, school did a big hoha for him. I swear he spent maybe 3mins looking through a window into the class room at my son. Bo
ttom line was though, I didnt care. My boy got full time funding . I know its wrong and we shouldnt have to do these measures, but hang there and keep fighting.
Hugs paws.

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

Hi folks - just popping in to say Hi. Just had a quick read - and as for not tying the shoelaces - well all of mine can - but never bother. I am constantly saying "tie up your laces" etc. So don't worry too much.

I hope that everything is travelling in the right direction for everyone else, and if not - just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep fighting.
