lol u lot!

Hey I wanted to ask if anyone has been through this.....
DD has been experiencing internal voices that cause extreme emotional upset? She has just turned 15 and although this has been ongoing before now its been manageable. She has become very aware of her disability and the reality she struggles to do certain things.

But of main concern is that these voices keep her awake at night. So far we are managing it but lately its gotten a lot worse.

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

mapalarkin,

Good luck for Monday. Darcy is so lucky to have a mum who advocates so strongly for him. Another thought is DET do have student welfare offices. I don't know if they are called that these days but ask if you can speak to someone and meet with them if necessary.

Anyway best of luck:-x

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

I would take her to a specialist chitchat.

It could be just the super busy Autistic mind, or it could be a sign of schizophrenia. ๐Ÿ˜ž

What about over in Bright? I've been to the GP there on the same day without a problem.

Thanks for that chit chat.

trouble is I can't get into the GP's down here till October

Thats dreadfull.I would ring at 8am in the morning and ask for emergency appointment.A lot of doctors secretaries wont tell you about emergency appointments but all doctors have them. They dont want to use them because that takes time away from them. But they do have them and ask to be put on a waiting list for any cancelled appointments.Another thing they dont tell people is that eveyday a minimum of at least 2 appointments are cancelled.A freind works in a doctors surgery lol.Good luck with it all Chit chat and dont take no for an answer.I'll send you some of my red-headed temprament down lol

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

chit chat, this could be schitzophrenia as it does show symptoms from around 15ish but just so that you are not jumping the gun too much, my son had voices a few years ago. it turned out that it was his conscience, but because of the autism he didn't understand it and consequently couldn't explain it properly. It was deemed a positive developmental milestone as it showed that he was learning to determine right from wrong. etc.... so don't panic just yet, it could be something quite simple. In the meantime, if you can't see a doctor earlier, 2 months won't make a difference at this stage.

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

forgot to say chit chat, at 15 there is a lot going on in her mind especially if she is aware of your considerations for her future schooling. I am predicting, that the voices are an internal mechanism to help your daughter sort stuff out, but the autism possibly means that this is the first time she has been aware of this happening and it is confusing her, or maybe just being 15 is tough. Regardless, regular psychology is a wonderful thing because it gives you the confidence that someone else could pick up on something that you miss, and it also takes a bit of the pressure off you for having to be 150% vigilant 150% of the time

Good Luck Love

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

Oh Kylie thank you:-x

I'm in two minds as to what to do here. See I don't know any of the doctors and I doubt they will understand the issues associated with autism and Fragile X Syndrome. So I am thinking of going back to my old Pediatrician 5 hours away and seeing her.

In the mean time I will keep a diary of events as in how often its occurring. She says the voices tell her she is useless, no good. She says she sees the devil and his demons fighting. Now she has never got that from us. But it does distress her. It could just be an obsession which is possible for her, last time it was witches lol Not you witches lol But it was everything witchy.

I'm inclined to think that she may just be suffering from low self esteem and the realisation of her disability and its limits physically and mentally. But there is a chance she could also be schizophrenic which I feel as a parent I do need to investigate.

It may well be that I need to once again face the dilemma of medication ๐Ÿ˜ž
