You are def not alone and you do have some options available to you.  ie You can do DE under the school's supervision, or p/t DE p/t school.  Ot you can do DE on medical grounds fulltime and you get a 900 dollar a term allowance.  So there are some options there for you.

What happens about his ongoing funding? does DE get it? or does it lapse? I guess I will figure all that out next week.

I don't think the school is in a hurry to have him back there at all. They think he's too dangerous (and sadly atm I have to agree with them) so I suspect it will be fulltime on medical grounds.

Plus I need to see if he can still go to the arts program he is in once a week if he's not at a physical school.

She is loving it Kiwi she is so good with computers so creating the program was no problem and she was able to find any song requests. She has come so far and its a wonderful opportunity to develop some skills.

She did an hour long program and as she gets used to it I think they will extend that.  We are amazed at her progress of late.

Now the funding issue may have changed since I had my high needs daughter in school but basically they would have to reinstate funding if he wanted to return to school.  They should hold onto that for a good 6 months or so or do a reassessment before he re enters the school. They say it disappears the moment you leave but I've proven that wrong time and time again!

As far as DE goes enquire as to whether they can fund an aide, usually their funding assessments are done toward the end of the year for the following year.  However in your situation it could be different.  I would contact region and speak to someone their about his needs and what you may be able to access as schools don't always know how it all works.

My current DD13 does not have aide funding for her needs in DE.  But I must say the teachers are great and they have adapted work to her level.  They are so flexiable, something the school could never be.

Hope that helps:-x

I am not sure if this is of any interest but it may have an impact on children Dx on the Autism Spectrum.
