Iโve only been interested in gardening in the last prob 8 yrs, so, by all means, Iโm still learning and I have had many plants die despite me *nursing* them, sometimes, even lovingly ๐โฆ. But such is the life of a plant I guess.
Iโm hoping that on this board, we can share our plant pics, what works, what doesnโt, give some handy hints and some solutions for those hard to grow plants.
I confess, I prefer my plants in pots, and now that I actually have a sort of greenhouse area, Iโm loving it immensely.
And to top it all off, Iโve just right now purchased 3 x pink princess philodendrons ๐
Oh Lordy lordโฆ.. Iโm so excited about these babies. These ones will stay inside with me until they grow a bit stronger.

The red leaves are apparently flowers and not leaves at all.
Here's what google says -
How long does a poinsettia last?2 to 3 monthsAnswer: If given good care in the home, poinsettias should remain attractive for 2 to 3 months. Toss the poinsettia when you grow tired of it or it becomes unattractive. For those home gardeners who enjoy a challenge, it is possible to get the poinsettia to bloom again next season.

That was really interesting. Mine are about on track then.
It's funny, my sister in law was here over Fri/Sat and when we went for a walk, she commented that she had never actually ever seen one growing ina garden. She saw them potted in shops and when people were given them as gifts, but never in gardens.
We pondered that. Now I know why. They are a challenge.

Thanks for all the help, Jane.
I will try to follow the advice. I have to admit I am a hit and miss plant carer. Sort of a set and forget person.
But I will put in a conscious effort and see if I can break the 3 month barrier stawka mentioned. Might keep you updated with pics from time to time. Unless I have to do the walk of shame to the bin.

My grandparents had one in the back corner of their yard. I hated the thing. It would have been there close on 30 years I reckon. Might even still be there. My Pop could grow a anything, which is probably why it survived.

Upon bare scorched earth next to a cement driveway of a previously rented residence a row of these flowers suddenly emerged for a time before disappearing again

They are beautiful - next you see them - dig for the bulb - then pot - lovely.

Perhaps - if ' previously rented ' - no longer rented - who would give a rats.
Or - simply go ask the newbies - can I have one.
One could even offer to pot one for them.
Geez.

He could have lived - nextdoor.
Should have grabbed a couple & potted anyway.
