Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

I know my fathers family came from Northern Ireland and were rabid protestants...would be interesting to find out more

people mentioned findmypast.com but seriously what is the best ancestory site? I had a play with findmypast but nothing came up on it...I'm happy to spend a reasonable amount to join a site just wondering which one the majority use?

most sites give you a free trial. Try them and see if its what you need. what works for one may not work for another. I found ancestry to difficult to navigate and seemed very american based but genes R have been great

You very likely won't. Records in NI were destroyed in the *troubles*

But try PRONI - rootsIreland - emeraldancestors (google them)

Rootschat & Lennonwylie could be useful as well.

A bit like the OH's ancestors...........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Armstrong

Hey col, guess what? I read you link and noticed Robert Maxwell... he's one of mine :^O

Do you think they put up Hadrian's wall to stop your OH's rellie from diving in England to plunder? Doesn't sound as if it would stop him. ๐Ÿ™‚
