Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

tende....sometime I think it is luck......all the researching I have done and I still have brick walls in my own tree.

My ancestors have always been involved in the church .....so parish records are good for me....but even then my greatx3 grandfather was illegitmate so already I have 50% I am not going to be able to find.

Thanks Flashie, I'll have to look into that, (the parish records), I might find something there.

I guess considering I haven't been doing it long, I'm doing OK.

Mind you without what you did for me, I'd be a no-where near what I am.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Tende try this link and put in the surname you want and place of birth and see if you can match anything.

Unfortunately they will be fazing this part of family search out soon.....but I find it good for seacrhing for family groups.

Just fill in surname and country....you can narrow it down from there.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

Also you might try this way.......advance search will allow you to do a parent search......just put in fathers name and surname....and mothers name......you dont always need her maiden name.....you don;t need to enter a country ...just check through the results that come up for your country.

If there are more thatn 25 results per country don;t forget to click on the blue writing at the bottom to get the rest of them

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Blackcatt....if you send me an email address I can forward a copy of the document I found of James in the boys home....then you can chose to see if it worth trying to get copies of any records involving him.

I have messaged you the possibilites I found for his parents.....nothing conclusive .....sorry.

I am free for any searches.
