Oh, and I meant to tell you all, I got on to the Durham Historical Society and asked if they knew anyone among their members who would be able to help me with Henry Gibson.
I have received an email from someone who has just retired and, because he has always been very involved with the Durham history and is setting up a business for himself seeking lost ancestors, is more than happy to help me.
He has said that, of course, there would be a fee, but then, I wouldn't have expected there not to be.
If he finds my 'enery, so IF any of you need help in the Durham district I can always let you know his name and email address 🙂

I hope your new friend in Durham can find Henry for you darkie. 🙂
I found out today that my new grandson who was born in February is a direct descendant of TWO first fleeters John Small and Mary Parker, through his father's mother. They were married in October 1788 and John was the last of the First Fleeters to die. That's going to look good on young Sean's family tree! :-x

It's Family History Week - http://www.familyhistoryweek.org.au/
Look through the index on the right for events happening near you. They are under postcodes in each state/territory. Many family history centres are open and willing to do searches for the public who come along.

That looks interesting chappies, sadly my family history is mostly over in Europe. My father was first generation Australian on his side and I am first generation Australian on my mother's side, so no interesting stuff there for me 😞
I have found a wonderful author who writes historical novels with a huge amount of research to make sure her history is accurate and I have found that a lot of the people she writes about are ancestors of mine.
I have found it so great getting some idea of what they were really like and the world they lived in.
Her name is Elizabeth Chadwick if anyone is interested.
