lol, I was gone too, and I came back :^O
havent got all my pages open now, but i remeber one of the censuses had a couple of benjamin Underhills on the same page (different address) as george. So perhaps its the same one they have in that tree. i didnt check ancestry, I was looking at the censuses on find my past UK.
Will have another look tomorrow.
Goodnight ๐
:8} I really must learn to type better, my spellchecker doesnt come up automatically with this new format and I am sick of going back and making corrections. Especially this late at night ๐

Good morning ๐ I think we must have passed in the hall when you were going to bed I was just about getting up ๐

Thanks so much guys ๐
I don't know if either of the Georges has siblings. My info came from my husbands grandfather, well he told us the names of his grand parents were George John Underhill and Rebecca Reid and George John Jnr has George J Snr and Mary skinner as parents on his death record in ancestry.
I think I might have to bite the bullet and buy his death cert so I can find a place of birth which should give me more to go on.

Sorry Punch but I have no idea if that is the right family. The names of George Jnrs children were: Ada, Frank, Sidney, Violet, Ralph, Rose, Harold, Olive and Arthur so you would think one or two of those children would be named after a parent.

I bought the marriage cert. We now know that G.J Jnr was a widow when he married Rebecca Reid and he had two children, at time of marriage, 1 alive and 1 deceased. His parents names were GJ Underhill and Mary Skinner according to the marriage cert.
Flashie found the two children, Eva and another George John and also the first wife's name which was Lilias Fanny Kerr. Thanks Flashie!!
I think he came from a place called leamington (very hard to read). Now to find out when he arrived and also more about his parents and grandparents if I can!!
What an exciting afternoon it has been! :-x

A fabulous afternoon matildas... how lovely to have sorted that out.
I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a birth certificate for one of my rellies, but it requires a search and it's in the UK and it is going to cost a bit ๐
Might do it over winter when things all calm down a bit .... maybe.

Leamington is in Warwickshire, same place I found that family yesterday.
I will have another look and see if I find any more.
Did you get his death certificate as well? That will usually show how long ago he arrived in Victoria. I see he married his first wife in 1891, which also rings true for the one I found last night, he disappeared after the 1881 census in the UK.

Carp, where did my last post go!
Punch, I only bought the marriage cert.
I think you might be on the right track with that family, so far its ticking all the boxes the only difference I can see so far is that his marriage cert has his fathers occupation as a saddler.
