Are you a sinner?

If so, do you deserve to go to hell?

Discuss.

Why do you have a problem with the existence of Jesus? The name derives from Yeshua - a not uncommon Jewish name - and  I'm sure there would have been quite a few blokes called Yeshua living around Nazareth at the time in question.

There are certainly historical references which suggest that one such bloke was executed on the order of the Roman governor and a cult called Christianity sprang up following his death, based on a belief that he was the Messiah promised in the Scriptures..

Joe is not referring to some bloke named Jesus or Yeshua who lived at the time in question. He is referring to the biblical Jesus. You would think that the divine son of God who performed miracles throughout his life, sacrificed his life for mankind, rose from the dead and then ascended into heaven would have been written about by somebody who witnessed his existence. But no. You don't have to hold a degree in theology to work out what that means.

It means he was not worthy of writing about, he didn't exist, or he did exist and the stories about him are untrue. I am referring to the Jesus whom Christians claim to be the most important person who ever existed. While I appreciate you probably don't hold a degree in theology, what does it mean, according to YOU?

So which Jesus is Joz referring to when he says  "they (atheists) don't believe in the existence of God, yet they believe Jesus existed."? I don't know of any atheists who believe in the biblical Jesus.

Disbelief and mockery are not the same thing.

There is historical evidence to show that Mohamed actually existed. There is no evidence for the existence  of the God about whom he taught.

I know of many atheists who accept that Jesus may have existed, but they do not believe he was divine. Are you aware that His divinity was written into the Bible centuries after the original gospels were compiled. Up until then He was just a normal man according to the original gospels. Over the following centuries the Bible was edited over 1000 times to strengthen the story that he was the son of God. Jesus may have existed, but who and what he was is the contentious issue.
