Seems like they are being punished instead and life is going to be made harder for them.

I guess the issue is that the government has already determined that they couldn't work due to the level of disability. Therefore you have to look at why they are doing this. To save a quick buck simple as that, because the most vulnerable don't have a voice.
The government has to back it up with the appropriate services in order for people to be successful in the work place. Some people do work successfully with disabilities and I am not arguing that but generally they are the exception to the rule. There are not enough jobs out there so again where are all these jobs coming from???
And if the govt is so confident they will all get work why not keep the same level of payment until they do. Because they know only a percentage will get work and even if they do find work, the other issue is that it's difficult due to their disability to remain in work which is the reason they were granted DSP in the first place.

It is possible to create your own job but you have to have the resources and brain power to do that. Most people in this situation are already facing extreme poverty. It's just not as simple as that.

Hello, everyone.
This thread is becoming hostile and interpersonal.
Could we please bring the discussion back to a less hostile and interpersonal state. Thanks!

I know Bella, and you know i agree with you and what you say in this and the above post.
This isn't applicable to all those with a disability, just some of them.
And why can't communities help a little bit and support those that are capable?
There are quite a few p[eople with disabilities who manage an ebay business.
Not every person fits the parameters you are describing, just as not every person fits the parameters of what I am describing, but for some, I believe it is possible.
Maybe some just need to be shown how or encouraged to try?

Do you remember disability advocates boycotted myer as a result of a CEO's negative comments about the NDIS?
This sort of stuff isn't good for people or business/es

To not be eligible for DSP and be able to work , even part time work, would be great. In an ideal world.....

the sentiment is OK , but the reality of the government spending money on training is quite slim. throughout PM Howards reign 'training' was the word being said to him over again that he ignored totally. the present seems eerily similar.
