BLOWN AWAY

Would you believe they are trying to stop children at pre school blowing out candles because they might blow saliva onto the cake ?

I think it would be a lot worse in an aged care facility when someone turns 100, the mind boggles.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

Re: BLOWN AWAY

as much as I would like to say that the Gillard party went too far I have to say that this actual fact is false.... it is up to the centers to make that decision but from what I understand they have made it easier to do so.

BUT... having had gastro the past 3 days I think it is a good idea... wash hands more often and have cup cakes instead...

Trying to?  It has been happening for a while now.   We teach our kids that it is not OK to share water bottles, why would you think it would be OK to consume a birthday cake with saliva icing??

Have you ever seen a snotty kid blowing out candles?  Gross.

Re: BLOWN AWAY

When I was at school "away back when" we did all sorts of things that are considered gross and unhygienic today and we rarely got sick. I believe in hygiene but this is going a bit to far.

Who's to say they don't put ONE candle in the cupcake and they all blow it out together, yuk that would be worse.

Re: BLOWN AWAY

Lots of people have always been wary about eating a child's birthday cake when the child has been blowing/breathing,drooling all over it.

Agree with meep - it is gross to breathe/blow all over a cake, then expect others to eat it.

Re: BLOWN AWAY

A lot of pre-schools & schools have a ban now anyway, on children bringing cakes/cup cakes from home to share with the class.. because cakes aren't healthy.

unfortunately not all parents do the responsible thing and keep sick kids at home.

Wouldn't that be better?  The kid blows the candle on his/her cupcake?  There rest can have their own without their friend's saliva.
