Didn't they know how much pain this would cause their mothers? Dealing with drugs just isn't worth it.

One of the best media campaigns I have seen in the last few weeks.
I don't like the way they are dragging up the AFP all the time.
I do wonder how many who oppose this still go to Bali on holiday ?
Bali is very susceptable to a drop in tourists.
I will never go to Bali. Not even if I was given a free ticket on a cruise ship because I don't like flying. Horribly corrupt and tourism at it's worst.

Agree.
Go to Bali, every 2nd person, "G'day"

Their very public Darwin Awards will be sent back to their families to take pride of place on their respective mantelpieces forever after.

What a revolting thing to say. Shame on you really.

The term is "bullet proof". up until about 22 !
Someone asked if they were drug users. I don't think they were, they were drug dealers only.
In it for the money !
IN all my travels between 1978 and 1982 across the world - as a teenager -, not many things stand out but the Huge painted signs
on the walls outside airports (KL was one) which is no uncertan terms said the "penalty for drug dealing was death",
with armed guard around the airport.
Even I understood what that meant !

We expect to live a much longer than 33-35 years though.
When you're only about 20 your perception is different too. There is more of a won't happen to me, just once or twice won't hurt type of attitude, especially within a group. When you're 20 35 seems a lifetime away.
The parents and families of these people are the most hurt. Their pain will continue after the deaths. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I feel for Scott Rush's father and wonder if he wishes he had made a different choice.
I feel for the parents, of course, but the father of Rush had a history of enabling his son and bailing him out of trouble for years. If he had taken action several years before, his son would not have found himself in that situation.

Interesting first part of that interview, they felt isolated for 10 years but not the last day or so since
Bishop and Pleb gave their speech.
I think people like Ben don't make it any easier on both them and everyone else
by this huge ramping up of activity and publicity.

What a wonderful contribution Ben Quilty has made to the life of Myuran and Andrew. He has lifted Myuran up from his addiction into a very worthwhile human being. He has given him pleasure and meaning in his last years, and his friendshsip has made this last part much easier to bear.
Contrast to Rush, who is living a dissolute life. We don't hear anything about the others.
