Bega Cheese wins legal stoush against US food giant Heinz over peanut butter labelling
bega should scrap the 'butter' from its jars and put 'paste' back
there is no peanut butter until they breed a peanut cow!
they grind peanuts into a paste, end of story!

We have hazelnut spread, so why not peanut spread?
I always buy the Bega Peanut Butter, so good on 'em.
Strangely I don't like panut buuter, but I love home made satay sauce using it.
Go figure.

As a kid I used to love peanut butter. Then I used to love peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
I can't even imagine eating peanut butter now that I've entered my dotage, lol...
erk.
If there was a famine on, maybe. Probably.

Seems the inventor used the term butter in his patent application and must have caught on due to the similar appearance ( except colour) to butter and the consumer could i guess relate better as a food rather than using the more accurate paste ( associated with tooth paste) . When there are profits to be made , descriptive technicalities take second place to marketing. .
