Being a Cop in Australia

Vision has been released of an “appalling” alleged attack on two NSW Police officers including a female senior constable who was punched and dragged to the ground by her hair before a clump was ripped from her scalp.

The officers were called to a home in Buff Point on the Central Coast late on Tuesday night after reports of a domestic incident.

William Peter Kershaw, 35, allegedly became increasingly violent and resisted arrest after police arrived at the scene.

“A struggle ensued when the officers attempted to arrest the man; the man allegedly spat in the male officer’s face,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The female officer was punched in the face several times before being dragged to the ground by her hair. A clump of hair was ripped from her scalp during the arrest.

“The female officer became increasingly distressed when she was grabbed around the neck and choked.

“The male officer was then allegedly elbowed in the face and had his genitals twisted by the man before additional police assisted and released him.”

Just another day at the office for our police officers.

I would take the knee for these men and women that put their safety and lives on the (blue) line to protect the general public, many of whom wish to visit violence on them.

the court heard the man is currently in immigration detention and will be deported to New Zealand following the sentence.

His sister is also expected to return to NZ to be with her five children.

At least the King sister wasn't skiting about it and said   .. ..   "I just hope everyone's OK". She seems genuine.  This is the problem when alcohol is involved troube can erupt.. She doesn't look like the type that would normally make troublle either. Well, they stuffed up and I guess that's it for them. They have to take responsibility for their actions.

Yeah, she's all heart ...

I'm sure she wouldn't have handcuffed a police officer in order to let her brother perpetrate violence against said female police officer, if she were sober...

After seeing so many snickering cocky thugs gloating over their actions, I was just saying that she seemed genuine. And it does make a change to hear someone say ... "I just hope everyone's OK" instead of the usual.

She probably wouldn't have done what she did if she was sober. Neither would her brother! He may be a trouble-maker when sober or he may be an OK guy. Who knows?? I have seen a couple of the most meek looking people turn into wild animals when on the juice. A former friend of mine had a Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde persona . After a few drijnks he would be in a type of psychosis. He could have ended up in jail a few times. Maybe he has as I haven't seen him for 20 years. A lady I knew was a reserved lady when sober but would turn into a real sex hungry tart after a few drinks. That's the way it is with some people.  But these two, they broke the law and they deserved  the punishment, end of story!

Geoff Regan joined WA police to make a difference, but it's been a tough career

Re: Being a Cop in Australia

It certainly doesn't sound as if it has been an easy career but it is just what is needed. We need to see aboriginal people in all sorts of career paths to break down the stereotypes.

I worked in a school where the vice principal was part Abroginal, although I didn't know that till told as she was blonde. When she told us part of her background though, with something like 11 school changes when she was young, it was amazing she had done as well as she had. She had her faults, mind you (don't we all) but she was very much a go-getter, do it now, don't put it off type, which can be good in a school.
