Being a Cop in Australia

Vision has been released of an “appalling” alleged attack on two NSW Police officers including a female senior constable who was punched and dragged to the ground by her hair before a clump was ripped from her scalp.

The officers were called to a home in Buff Point on the Central Coast late on Tuesday night after reports of a domestic incident.

William Peter Kershaw, 35, allegedly became increasingly violent and resisted arrest after police arrived at the scene.

“A struggle ensued when the officers attempted to arrest the man; the man allegedly spat in the male officer’s face,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The female officer was punched in the face several times before being dragged to the ground by her hair. A clump of hair was ripped from her scalp during the arrest.

“The female officer became increasingly distressed when she was grabbed around the neck and choked.

“The male officer was then allegedly elbowed in the face and had his genitals twisted by the man before additional police assisted and released him.”

Just another day at the office for our police officers.

I would take the knee for these men and women that put their safety and lives on the (blue) line to protect the general public, many of whom wish to visit violence on them.

Police Dog and Handler Injured in Toowoomba

Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission will oversee a police investigation into the death of a man who had been arrested following a stabbing incident in Toowoomba on Sunday night.

A senior constable and police dog Turbo were among the first to respond to reports of a break-in at Warana Avenue in the suburb of Mount Lofty.

It is alleged a 31-year-old man at the premises attacked the officer with a pair of scissors, causing a laceration to his face and a minor stab wound to his upper body.

Police said the man then stabbed the dog multiple times in the chest.

Officers tasered the man and arrested him on a nearby street.

Police said he was treated at the scene but suffered a medical episode on his way to hospital and was pronounced dead about 8:00pm.

Turbo remains in a serious but stable condition at a local vet clinic, while the 32-year-old senior constable received treatment for minor injuries.

"Police dogs are trained to look after their handlers and I think it's sad that both police officer as well as the dog were injured," Ms Carroll said.

A young man who was shot dead by police on the Logan Motorway yesterday has been "directly linked" to the double murder of an elderly couple, with officers describing the incident as a "terrorism event", Queensland police say.

The bodies of Maurice and Zoe Antill, both in their mid-80s, were found at a house in the southern Brisbane suburb of Parkinson yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday morning Raghe Mohamed Abdi, 22, was fatally shot by police on the Logan Motorway, not far from Parkinson, after allegedly threatening officers with a knife.

Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Tracy Linford said further forensic examinations of the two scenes revealed they were connected.

"There was an item located with Mr Abdi that we believe came from the address of the deceased elderly couple and we are also looking into items of property that were located at their address that were believed maybe owned by Mr Abdi," she said.

"We are treating this matter as a terrorism event.

"Nothing else has been uncovered at this point in time that there are any other persons involved in the terrorism event."

I knew a guy with a nasty mental illness who didn't take his medication for a few days. He deteriorated and caused a bit of a scene at a shopping centre. The police arrived and a cop with a barking dog approached the guy who felt threatened and hit the dog. He was charged with "Assaulting a police dog without permission" LOL. I later asked the guy why he hit the dog and he said, "Because he was going to bite me, so I punched him in the nose". I thought, well fair enough.

Sydney lockdown protester denies police horse punch allegations

One of the men accused of punching a police horse during Sydney’s anti-lockdown protest on Saturday has denied the allegation before being granted bail.

NSW police have charged 57 people and issued 90 fines after setting up a strike force to track down more than 3500 protesters who marched through the CBD and clashed with officers in defiance of public health orders.

Two men were on Sunday charged with punching a police horse during the rally before being denied bail to appear in court on Sunday.

While I understand the fury of people stuck in lockdown, there's always an element of stupid in these protests.

I don't think it's just stupid, it's bad and mad. They knew exactly what they were doing and have got to face the consequences.

Re: Being a Cop in Australia

Unfortunately it runs both ways. While there are plenty of cops who do their best to genuinely assist people and show great skill in their job, there is also a significant number who can only be differentiated from the thugs and thieves by their uniform.

Our own regional police have a major corruption problem, working hand in glove to protect drug dealers and meth labs.  ( I,m not telling you how I know because frankly these cops are quite dangerous, but its from personal experience ) They also lie on charge sheets and to the courts. Its not just hearsay or my say. One local cop was charged in court with dealing in stolen property and drugs ( confiscated from people he was arresting ) a few years ago, but it is well known he was not operating alone. Two of his mates have recently been booted from the force for bashing teenagers during supposed arrests and yet it is still going on even in recent weeks.

I have personally witnessed police kneeling on a young kids head ( BLM style ) so hard they burst his eardrum and only a few weeks ago a couple of other local cops pepper sprayed a young man who was filming them arrest a friend on his phone. ( on trumped up charges ) All he was doing was filming them, didnt say a word or get in the way. They then bashed him and stole his phone. Funnily enough the police bodycam footage for that arrest has gone missing. Unknown to them another kid was also filming.  That one is under internal investigation at the moment. And yes, one of my kids was present at that " incident " and witnessed it first hand. Why ? Because it is common place and happening all the time where I come from and plenty of people including myself have witnessed these incidents.

Yes the good guys in the police force have to put up with a lot, but unfortunately there are too many police including some in very high places who are corrupt, violent bullies.

Re: Being a Cop in Australia

Another example of " being a cop in Australia " in my home state.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-28/sa-man-set-to-receive-compensation-after-violent-arrest/12292...

A few months ago a friend who sells me ebay stock from time to time, was locked up in the same city police station. He suffers from mental health problems and no doubt could make a racket when placed under severe stress.

Rather than calling an ambulance to take him to a hospital or psychiatric facility they simply bashed him until he was nearly unconscious and left him in a cell for a couple of days.....

Corruption and systemic police violence is out of control in South Australia. We desperately need a specific royal commission to clean the whole show up and restore some faith in South Australian Police.

Until that happens, dont tell me how brave and selfless the police are.. They are a mob of thugs and bullies who get off on victimising vulnerable people. Its just that most people dont see it because they are tucked up in their nice homes in their nice suburbs with the neat gardens and the little silver car in the roller door secured garage. All they see of police is the carefully edited, sanitised little snippet on the 6 O'clock news.

Its only when footage involving a black man in America comes to light that they show any compassion or indignation for victims of police violence. But that's far away in another country and its the latest lefty virtue signalling party so jump on board people...........
