Boat arrivals

Have any unauthorized boats carrying people with the intent to seek asylum in Australia arrived in the past few weeks?

and they provided proof of that?

quotes from anyone in a position of authority?

I could say anything was under investigation, it doesn't make it true.

Besides which, it claimed that the turn around policy was under investigation, not the fact that any boats had arrived. It made no claims that any boats had arrived.

probably writtenn by a boat smuggler who is peeved that his income is drying up.

that article was nothing more than fluff

Re: Boat arrivals

Why would any other govt make comment on an issue like that? They probably know diplomacy...perhaps abbott can learn a thing or two from their example. I have seen media from several countries discussing it, but I'm not sure if they're commercially credible. Ny times for example.

I get it, Crikey. You don't like asylum seekers and you support what abbott is doing.

You have the right to that opinion and I have the right to disagree.

Re: Boat arrivals

Tonight Morrison said 'there were no people taken to Christmas island in the past 2 weeks".  he also said:  "The number of persons newly presenting to the UNHCR in Jakarta for registration per month has fallen from 1,608 in September to just 296 in December,"  which is interesting; if they are not arriving in Indonesia, then obviously they are not getting into the boats.  Which is most likely due to the fact that it is monsoon season and not a good time to travel. according to Lieutenant General Campbell.

If you consider yourself a person of Authority ....you could just answer your own question ?

Don't worry about the fact that some things (facts) are as yet uncertain and being questioned

by the UNHCR .

Re: Boat arrivals

Crikey,  you'll find people on here  are rabib Tony Abbot haters so  good news is bad news for  them

You are quite right to ask for proof of these outrageous claims which slide into slurs on our governemt when she is losing the argument.

These people are hypo that the Conservative government's policy is a stunning success so they are casting around for anything to criticize their success. Sour & bitter grapes is all they have to offer & obfuscation of the real facts backed up by online hate blogs &  propaganda.

I think the govt should be out there crowing about this sucess but being a grown up government they refrain from the making the same mistakes Labor did by being on the TV 50 times a day trying to convince the public they were doing a good job & out there every day trying to cover up their failures and lies.

We can be assured our country is being run by competent honest people & we sure need it after the 6 years of lies & failure we have just suffered through.

Australians will never forget the horror of a Labor govt.

I'm glad you stuck to your guns I'm just surprised you are still able to on here.

Really?  How can you be sure of anything when they do not tell us what they are doing?

"Abbott proclaimed that the election was 'all about trust', but in power has thrown up significant obstacles to transparency.  Soon after assuming office Abbott ordered all ministerial media appearances to be vetted via the Prime Ministerโ€™s Office. This strategy, which media veterans Barrie Cassidy and Laurie Oakes note, continues to hinder the flow of information to media and is a concerning early sign of a lack of transparency.

Just as the Institute of Public Affairs wrote on the subject of transparency in September 2011, โ€œWithout transparency, government accountability is not possible. Indeed, the ability of citizens to hold public officials accountable is directly proportional to the disclosure of information.โ€

I recall seeing TA on TV before the election where he promised that he will be open and honest with Australian people, one BIG lie.

Ahh, so for our Government it is "secrecy, but when another Government remains silent it is "Diplomacy". OK, Got it.
perhaps abbott can learn a thing or two from their example. ummmm, but people complain about that too... Why is it that when our gov chooses to remain silent that they lack transparency, yet when, according to you, another government who remains silence, shows diplomacy?
I have seen *smirk*, mmmm media from several countries discussing it, Sure you have, but I'm not sure if they're commercially credible. Well yes, your aversion to credibility has been duly noted in the past, so why should it be any different this time, right?  Ny times for example.

Twisting facts again, eh? Resorting to personal pot shots to intimidate, eh? No where have I said that I support what is happening, quite the contrary, I have said many times that I wish we could accept everybody, However, I also have an ability to be objective and apply reality.

You have the right to that opinion and I have the right to disagree.

I haven't disagreed with your opinion, I have merely asked for links to "what you have seen" that shows where boats, carrying people with the intention to seek asylum from Australia, have arrived here recently apropros your claims that they have.

If they have, and you know any information, why the secrecy? Isn't this what you now claim to despise from our government?
