Re: Cat_mioux's new home

Hi everyone!

Freddie:

My boy used to argue with the Doctors when he was on chemo. He would say, "but how can this make me better when it only makes me sick?"

Difficult concept for kids.

Freddie, chemo effects people different. My mother only sometimes felt nauseous but never once vomitted, even tho on aggressive treatment. My Aunt vomitted all the time and her chemo was not as strong., as did my son. Some get mouth ulcers even tho they had no oral chemo. Not everyone loses their hair.

Big thing he has to watch is not catching infections as he is wide open to that, but I am sure his treating team told him. Avoiding being in crowds like shopping centres is best, all it can take is someone to cough or sneeze over him and he can end up very sick in hospital. Carting around gel hand sanitiser is the trick when having to go out in public as it is hard to get used to not touching handrails, sides of escalators and such, then touching the face. ...and not wash hands in public toilets, use the gel instead.

Wicks, I don't think he's up to bothering to venture out. They did have their dear old doggy PTS due to his age and the possibility of infection. He went into Hospital Wednesday, i'm not sure if they have given him the planned double dose of chemo as yet because they needed to give him a blood transfusion.

Poor bugga. Yes, you are warned about having animals in case they scratch you, and not going into yard without shoes.

..and yes, regular top ups of red blood cells, platelets etc are the usual. They can often tell themselves when it is needed as they feel so very tired. It is all very cruel. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Yes, Mum spoke to him on the phone prior to the transfusion, she said he sounded like an old man. I hope the transfusion gives him the needed boost. It's heart breaking..

Re: Cat_mioux's new home

Well it is a beautiful day here in Victoria, however I am feeling rather guilty.
My recent get fit quick plan has seen me end up with burstis of the R knee. I stupidly jogged 5km on it again yesterday and now I'm paying the price. Will have to consult one of my colleagues tomorrow when I go to work. But life doesn't stop just coz mums busted, no siree. Had to go to Bunnings and buy a new doggy door coz the doggy broke the one I installed last night. I made miss 17 come with me and she drove. When I got home master 15 was back from dads so I got him to get down on the hard tiles and install the new one and then I told him he'd have to cut the grass for me. The kids don't normally do it, I do. I feel a bit naughty kicking back on the computer withthe sun streaming through the study window hearing the mower going but hey.......he's old enough to contribute I know. Still I feel really lazy and bad.

I love her to bits! I prefer not to have lots of acquaintances, just a few very close friends. :-x

cynth - you have a 17 year old and 15 year old. They are old enough to share the chores around the house. Stop trying to do everything yourself! Your kids will get a sense of contributing which is a good thing. I know how you think cynth because I was the same when I was a single mum but I only wore myself out.
