"Many Catholic priests take a flexible approach to celibacy, tolerated by church leaders, and some believe sex with children or men does not count, a former Melbourne priest said on Wednesday."

Let's just throw these kiddie fiddlers in gaol. I don't care if they think it's right by their religion. Using their own stupid logic, throwing them in gaol isn't violating their religious right it's merely throwing out trash:)

It is a well known fact that Gay marriage is not something the Catholic Church would be able to allow. The Church has laws about who can marry in the Church. Not restricted to just the Catholic Church though, is it?

Influenced by? Not sure. Backed by? Not surprising, surely.

sorry, forgot this...
Marriage is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church.
As such, it is a supernatural institution, as well as a natural one.
The Church, therefore, restricts sacramental marriage to men and women who meet certain requirements.

please do not put sex with another male int he same circumstance as sex with a child. a same sex relationship or experience is completely different from pedophelia on every level (despite what one of the lovely ladies from katter's party thinks).
one would think having sex with a consenting woman or male was one thing and that would be up to the priest's conscience against his celibacy vows. having sex with a child is wrong and criminal and anyone who does this should be arrested.
I wasn't implying same circumstances, merely saying surely any other form of relations other than with a consenting woman is considered taboo within the Catholic teachings, aside from vows.
I don't know much about Catholic Religion.

Nobody is asking them to agree with it...but they should stay out of Social Policy while there's such hypocrisy flying in the face of their dominant righteous indignation. If only they were as righteously indignant over Child Molestation?...ho hum.
Their influence leads to exclusion but that wasn't Christ's teachings (not that I'm a religious type). I just read a lot...lol
& No they're not the only ones = various religious groups Worldwide have far too much influence and historically, that leads to wars...after all, "Nobody expects the Inquisition".

Actually, more of the problem may well be the people who happen to be Catholic or religious of any Church, who see only their way as the right way. It is a human failing not a Religious one.

It has been my experience that they are as much against child molestation as anyone else. As for asking them to agree.... that was not part of my post?

That might well be true azureline but it's no excuse in my books.....
When one intangible religious doctrine or another has the power of a religion behind them, or represent one, it's deadly. Don't know whether I can highly one religious 'extremist' movement that has 'terrorised' the world for a decade. It's not the religious or lets say 'spirital' beliefs of that religion but the extremists in that religion. Don't they all have them?
Just take the whole controversy lately over Scientology with a well known 'ex-member' now calling it a cult. Extremists are the problem, spirituality should be the focus.
Crikey mate, I'm High Church of England, but that won't stop me being friends with someone who is Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist.....as long as they don't get 'extreme'. Ever had certain religions impose upon you at your front door for instance?.
God HAS NO RELIGION...(courtesy of Ghandi).
Furthermore.....the bible clearly states that "The Mind of man cannot conceive that which is his God". roughly translated that means NOBODY can know what constitutes 'godly' behaviour or 'acceptance under God'. Judgement isn't there's kinda thing. = It's the Vibe. JMO

If the Catholic religion is against Child molestation way did the Vatican refuse to hand Papers about this very thing to the police.
Why do they spend so much time covering this up and sending Child Molesters to different Parishes where they do it again and again.
