Charlotte Dawson's Legacy

I hope that in the future if not today open discussion on Depression and Mental Illness can carry on...

Thoughts and best wishes to all who loved and cared for and about you .

“Charlotte was a beautiful person physically, but she also had a beautiful soul. She was kind, loving and generous,” Vicky said.

“She was a kind, loving and generous person and worked tirelessly for the causes she believed in.

carry on with the other issue Charlotte Dawson experienced and tackled in life.. that being online trolling and bullying

Everyone needs to get behind this:

Charlotte fought hard for a reform into cyber bullying; she campaigned so hard for something so simple - a better world.

In life Charlotte dreamed of eradicating negativity off social media, in death we will continue fighting for her and make her proud of our continuing battle. Charlotte's death can not be in vain.

Charlotte's Law - http://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/the-australian-government-charlotte-s-law-tougher-cyber-bullyi...

The Abbott government is considering a legally binding scheme with civil penalties, and has proposed a simplified cyber bullying offence that will make prosecution of trolls easier.   http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/celebrity/charlotte-dawson-death-twitter-criticised-for-failing-to-a...

Yes, Charlotte Dawson spoke out against cyber bullying but she wasn't a saint herself and thrived on the drama and controversy..

Is it true that she was found by a real estate agent getting ready for an open house inspection of the appartment?

Death rather than homelessness or moving to the burbs.

Why should it be called Charlottes Law, she's not the first one to die from cyberbullying.

There are other people lobbying for the same thing, e.g. Chloes Law. Is Chloe not important because she wasn't famous?

No one is perfect, Freaki.

Charlotte's Legacy is about accountability.

"Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft signed up last year to a federal government complaint-handling scheme designed to remove hateful material from social networks."

"Twitter haven't signed up...."

I don't believe she died from cyberbullying.  Some sort of depressive illness maybe but not cyberbullying.

And no, I will not be signing any petition calling for any "charlotte's law".

To me it seems more an aversion to toning down the lifestyle, waning celebrity, living in the burbs like average people.

what was said to charlotte was not nice but whether people want to see it or not she did engage in it, retweeting and prolonging it etc.

She made her share of nasty comments to others too, to name it charlotte's law would just be wrong.

I don't know.

Chloe's Law

Bullying is rampant in Australia, especially among young people. At the moment, there are no anti bullying laws in any Australian state except Victoria ( Brodie's Law ). This law needs to be spread throughout all Australian states and territories to let these bullies know that it will not be tolerated. Too many lives have been lost and affected by these people.
In today's society, and with the introduction of social media its ridiculous that no such laws exist yet. This needs to change.

Charlotte's Law

We ask that the Australian Government and the state government's enforce the existing anti-bullying and harassment laws, and take action against those who violate them.  We ask that Social Media companies take a more active role in the prevention of cyber bullying, and take more responsibility in monitoring posts of 'hate'. We ask that together we unite to change the cyber bullying platform.

I don't recall saying anyone, including myself, was or is perfect.

I'm just not going to blame social media for the death of Miss Charlotte D.
