I hope that in the future if not today open discussion on Depression and Mental Illness can carry on...
Thoughts and best wishes to all who loved and cared for and about you .
“Charlotte was a beautiful person physically, but she also had a beautiful soul. She was kind, loving and generous,” Vicky said.
“She was a kind, loving and generous person and worked tirelessly for the causes she believed in.

There are other people lobbying for the same thing, e.g. Chloes Law. Is Chloe not important because she wasn't famous?
I don't believe she died from cyberbullying. Some sort of depressive illness maybe but not cyberbullying.
And no, I will not be signing any petition calling for any "charlotte's law".
To me it seems more an aversion to toning down the lifestyle, waning celebrity, living in the burbs like average people.
Fair enough. (it's exceeded its target already)

Good on Emma for starting the petition, Each to their own.
Just because I like and respect Emma doesn't mean I need to sign the petition.
It's next target is 35,000.
I didn't know Charlotte although I did observe some of her fights from a distance. I think it's sad that she was unable to find peace in the world and chose to leave it but I do not blame other people for that.

Charlotte's Legacy is about accountability.
"Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft signed up last year to a federal government complaint-handling scheme designed to remove hateful material from social networks."
"Twitter haven't signed up...."
I don't recall saying anyone, including myself, was or is perfect.
I'm just not going to blame social media for the death of Miss Charlotte D.
I don't think anyone is doing that. Not even her close friends.
Obviously we're both here posting because we feel strongly enough about it. I strongly believe Twitter should join in with the other social networking sites to have a system in place designed to remove hateful material.
OK, I'm sorry, I did say "everyone needs to get behind this" - perhaps it came across a bit strong but only because it is something I feel strongly about. . I meant that as a suggestion.
That's it from me.

Sorry folks but if she died from cyber bullying she should have been a member here where she could have grown a really strong hide.
there are professionals here and most of us know who they are... none of us has committed suicide yet because of them.
Maybe Charlotte died of depression, I can well imagine that being beautiful and famous and trying to live up to it all could cause depression.
Depression is usually founded on severe stress over a number of years that, in the end, burns out some of the chemicals in the brain. They are not easily replaced and that is where anti-depressants play their role replacing the chemical and returning the brain to normal.
Anti-depressants have very bad media attention and so it is often the case that the person can feel ashamed of being depressed and on anti-depressants.... It isn't a mental illness such as Bi-polar or schzophrenia is, but it can be very hard to live with if you are among bullies, rogues and twisters.
Sometimes it becomes a life long thing for the brain and the person can actually cease to think about the problem, but in severe cases the brain overrides the anti-depressants and the depression becomes extremely serious. That is when someone can feel incredibly and totally trapped, suffering from Panic Attacks and feelings of total despair. That is when they can see only one way out is death!
In my own opinion I don't see death as an end or as something bad and shameful, but it's sad that someone can be driven to that extreme and I can only hope that Charlotte is now at peace.

There is more than one type of depression and there are many different causes including genetics. As in all mental illnesses there are varying degrees of severity. Bipolar and depression are both mood disorders with Major [or clinical] Depression being one of the severe forms of mental illness. The causes and triggers vary from person to person and at times remain unknown. Research has shown that there may be a link between gut bacteria and mental illness. Mental illness does not discriminate. The rich, the poor;the old, the young; the beautiful, the ugly; successful or not, can have mental illness.
No offence, Darki, but there is so much wrong with your post.
