Christine Milne resigns

Christine Milne has resigned as the leader of the Greens. I wonder who her replacement will be?

I am glad she is gone. I think she did the party (and their causes) great harm.

I like Richard Di Natali though.

Not as much harm as SHY has done to the Greens, which is why she and to an extent Bandt were sidelined.

Not sure like is a good criteria, but I wish Di Natali hadn't got the top job.

Geez--25 years--should be a big payout and ongoing benefits,

Senator Milne has served 25 years in Australian politics, being elected to the Tasmanian parliament in 1989, and becoming the first woman to lead a political party in Tasmania in 1993. She was elected to the Senate in 2004, elected Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens in 2008 and Leader in April 2012.

How much of the payout is going to be for her time in Tas Parliament, how much from her teacher's superfund and how much is due to her term as a Senator in the Aus Parliament?  Just curious.....  as I can't quite make out what the 25 years of service has to do with a big payout, unless there is a huge one from the 12 years in the Senate.

I think she had to wait 12 years before one of the payouts or pensions kicked in.

I'd have to look it up again.

The Greens are poison to the Labor party, they are the Labor party's mortal enemy. It's funny reading all the comment s on here who think it's so nice that De Natale has been crowned top dog, why? when he will destroy Labor at the first chance he gets.

I'm amazed that the left on here never have a bad word to say about the Greens even after the "wedding" with the Greens destroyed the last Labor Govt,

Is it because Labor would never win an election without Green preference??

You mean, a bit like the the Liberals could never win an election without the National Party?

At least over history, the Labor Party hasn't had to rely on the Greens to provide them with one or 2 votes here and there to win an election. Unlike the Liberal Party. When was the last time they would have menaged to win an election without the Nationals? Even Menzies needed an alliance with the  Nationals (or the Country Party as they were known then) to get him over the line.

Very observant of you. Surprised more haven't cottoned onto that fact.

The Greens will take more votes from Labor than from the LNP.

Di Natale is very good, that's why I don't want him as leader of the Greens, he might actually make them more mainstream with decent economic policies.

You totally missed the point in your haste to make your  incorrect response.

The Liberals and National party is a Coalition, has been for decades. The Lib/Nat Coalition is a conservative coalition.

The last time I looked at Labor it was NOT a coaltion, the last time I looked at the Green Party they were NOT  a coalition.

On the other hand Labor could not possibly be a viable political party without its total reliance on criminal unions, and  Green preferences.

No clothes.

I want to seem what happens to SHY and whether she will be told to keep her mouth shut.

I hope not.

Probably go into a huddle with that criminal woman hacker they employed, probably like two peas in a pod.

I wonder if she is still there or if it was just a media stunt. Either way, employing criminals and those of low moral fiber of that ilk is par for the course for the Greens.
