PROFESSOR Tim Flannery has been sacked by the Abbott Government from his $180,000-a-year part-time Chief Climate
Commissioner position, with the agency he runs to be dismantled immediately.
No surprises in climate agencies' dismantling
"..Chief Commissioner, Tim Flannery, is Australia's Al Gore in that he is the figure most loathed and pilloried by the people who are
not convinced of the climate science. Much was made of his commissioner's salary and his supposed waterfront property..."

Are we really going to miss Tim? ...... I say NO.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Iza.... I found this...and had a good laugh..... My thoughts, as I suggests are not alone - There are of course a few Alarmist lovers out there.....
Nigel Withers, Warren, NSW
If Tim Flannery is going to continue his work without getting paid $180,000 a year by the government, it means that he should have been sacked a long time ago and the taxpayers would have saved all that money.
Mario Viscardi, Camden, NSW
Farewell, climate commission, you served us well and impartially. It's satisfying to hear the Greens will try to save the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Could this be a direct action initiative?
Toni McNamara, Port Douglas, Qld
Every now and then, when things looked grim, Tim Flannery would pop up and give us a good belly laugh. Sadly, we shall now have to be content with other forms of amusement.
Greg Kater, Sydney, NSW
I've no problem with Tim Flannery continuing to bang on with his alarmist views, but I am delighted that we, the taxpayers, are not paying millions to listen to his claptrap.
Philip Squire, Ashgrove, Qld
No, Kaye Small (Letters, 20/9), Tim Flannery would have predicted that he wouldn't get the sack.
Marcus Aylward, Brighton, Vic
Yes, Tim Flannery, Australians do have a right to accurate information. So where does that leave your assertion that Australia would never again have sufficient rain to fill our dams? That prediction lured state premiers into spending billions on unused desalination plants.
Burt Bosma, Surrey Hills, Vic
I see life on planet Earth is doomed in 1.75 billion years. Tim Flannery will be able to enjoy his retirement in his waterfront home for a few decades yet.
Lindsay Dent, Campbelltown, SA
As a sceptical geologist I have been scorned and maligned by the Left as a denialist and flat-earther. The sacking of Tim Flannery is splendid karma to me, and may it continue as the IPCC presents another report to an increasingly sceptical world.
G. M. Derrick, Sherwood, Qld
The now defunct climate commission obviously didn't have any good ideas to combat political climate change.
David Meredith, Singleton, NSW
Now we know what direct action is. You put your head in the sand and climate change will go away. There's no need to argue about the science of climate change, just abolish it.

And yes Iza.... Climate does change... do we need doubling up of Alarmists paid by the government?...No..
I particularly like a couple of scientists who currently, and who have previously worked for NASA.... and they are not Alarmists.

Alarmists paid for by Governments ? What's in it for any Government in this case ? Far more likely that those shouting 'Alarmists' may be paid......"there is money in them there hills"

Tim Flannery was an Alarmist paid by the Government....
If you are disappointed that Tim Flannery has been sacked, and the Climate Commission dismantled....could you explain why?
So far....no one has really defended him....why is that?

Professor David Suzuki has spoken out and best summed up what I feel .
"What the hell kind of government is it that comes into office and the first symbolic act is to shut down a source of information?"

I find it funny to read around though.....some suggest that he was paid to scare people into accepting Labor's carbon tax....
Did the carbon tax earn the Government money ?

It's refreshing to see that propaganda department , funded by taxpayers, go down the gurgler. There are still some to go and that will happen now that the adults are back in control 🙂
