On the other hand, the Italians stuck at home sit at their windows and whole towns sing together.  Or play musical instruments

Yet we hear nothing about how to eat better or how to behave in order to improve your immune system. Producing adrenalin suppresses your immune system really fast and people who are going into panic mode are automatically producing adrenalin.

If and when it comes here I'll be interested to see who gets it. The local op shop sells cakes every Friday and it's all loaded with sugar, and the people who buy it mostly have serious health issues. The woman who cooks most of it consumes huge amounts of sugar herself and isn't remotely interested in helping herself when it comes to her health, probably because she wouldn't know how to cope with having nothing to complain about.

That is interesting.  Actually, I just recently read an article about sugar and flu/colds/fevers.  Apparently rats when infected stopped eating sweet stuff, and when 2 groups were infected, and one group was force fed food containing sugar they all died.  The group that ate the same food without sugar recovered.

i only just quickly glanced through it; it was only of slight interest for me as I stopped buying sugar years ago and I never liked soft drinks.

Kazumi, being a type two diabetic that uses diet to control I've noticed that I get sick less often with my low sugar diet

Re: Coronavirus update

A lot of health problems are caused by sugar. A doctor wrote a book about it many years ago and was ridiculed by the rest of the medical profession but some are finally starting to realise that he was right. I'm reading a very interesting book on the health benefits of honey at the moment. It doesn't have the same effect on the body as sugar but can work to help a lot of the problems that sugar causes. It's anti-viral, among other things. He says it's the sweetener of choice for type 2 diabetics because it helps bring blood sugar levels down. They've even done studies where it helped people to lose weight by having a tablespoon at night before they went to bed.

I had adrenal fatigue for several years so I've done a lot of reading on the subject of adrenalin. I was never particularly interested in reading up on mindfulness but happened to read Renew Your Mind by Chantal Hofstee and the whole book is basically about how to stay calm and not produce adrenalin, ie. how to deal with stress without getting stressed. I was a different person by time I'd finished reading it and I immediately bought my own copy because there's a huge amount of information in it.

I don't think people are panic buying because they're worried about coronavirus. I think for most people it's purely greed and they want to get in before everyone else so they don't miss out, otheriwse they wouldn't be buying so much of everything. You can't tell me that most people normally only have enough food in the house for the next few days.

Your body uses a lot of nutrients just to digest sugar so by not having those nutrients to do their proper jobs you're far more likely to get sick.  The same applies to white flour and other processed foods.

Brer, I didn't know that about honey.
I've been avoiding it thinking that being sweet it'd raise blood sugar.
I know maple syrup makes my blood sugar really high.
So I had to give up that.
Not all people react the same way to foods though so I'll have to wait until I get my new machine and test strips at the end of the month to test out what honey does to me

Re: Coronavirus update

I'll get the book and type out what honey does, but it's a very complicated process.
