So they give him extra money so they don't have to return and where might that money go?
The Government is typically given around $1 billion to meet unforeseen need under an "advance" to the Finance Minister. That has been increased to $40 billion.
Labor leader Anthony Albanese said it was about "putting aside partisan differences to make things better for the people who send us to Parliament".
The $40 billion funding pool was agreed in Parliament on Monday night, in addition to $84 billion in stimulus measures, as part of a range of radical moves designed to avoid having MPs back in Canberra during the health crisis.
Hopefully it's held in reserve for when it's really needed and not squandered on "suspect" things.

i must say, i think the govt is trying hard to avoid the coming recession.
they are using a bit of a 'scatter gun' approach, throwing money in all directions (or trying to) in hope some of it does the trick.
i'm a little afraid a lot of what being thrown at business people will be pocketed and will not save jobs.
after all im seeing stories of mass lay offs even after the anouncments of handouts to business.
i think the giving money to low income earners and those on benifits was a good idea as those people will spend it.
the ramping up of the centrelink system should have been in the first package.
i havent heard but have the applying for a stack of jobs every fortnight been scrapped?
how does one apply for non existent jobs?
it must have been difficult before, now its pretty much impossible.

All those people lined up at the Centrelink Offices and very few
masks to be seen. Gosh this is shoddy no wonder it's spreading.

That's the part I see as a possible major spend that can go horrible wrong in that businesses have already put
their workers off and so have no business to rescue and they'll just sit on what they receive or pocket it.

Low income earners generally live from week to week and tend to not save so all the money they receive will
go back into the economy which is what a stimulus packet is supposed to do.

have they made wearing masks manditory yet?
all i seem to hear is there are no masks to be had anywhere
what were available got bought up early on
i did hear a while back masks wont stop the transfer of the virus, only slow it down if one sneezes or coughs
the actual microbes will travel through most masks
the hand washing and not touching the mouth area is the best way to avoid contamination they say.
but again, talk to 10 different 'experts' get 10 different stories.

I think masks are best kept for use by someone who is infected or waiting for results in a household and needs to use a common area, example bathroom.
