A wet market (also called a public market) is a marketplace selling fresh meat, fish, produce, and other perishable goods, as distinguished from "dry markets" that sell durable goods such as fabric and electronics
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wet_market
Markets like these are everywhere, all over the world. Closing them down would be like if a pandemic was thought to have started at Coles in Alice Springs, an all Coles stores would be closed down.
By the way anybody who has been to Bali or other Asian country, and picked up some chicken from a street vendor have very likely eaten dog or cat.

Just went down the main street to post my ebay mail. Traffic everywhere, long lines at the PO. door, cars and people, including senior citizens everywhere, I could hardly get a park.
It seems the people have voted with their feet where I live and all decided to go outside again. It was actually a bit of worry seeing all of the older people out en masse. I hope it doesnt come back to bite them in two weeks time.
my guess is they are watching news reports saying south australia has no new positive tests for the last 24 hours
that means we are cured doesnt it?
PARTY TIME!

the chinese 'wet markets' are a little different from what we would call a 'wet market' in as much as the have wild animals like dogs and cats and bats and bears (well anythingthat moves really) for sale, ALIVE!
we have laws on what you can sell for human consumption.
most asian countries will sell anything that moves as food plus plants we wouldnt eat.
japan eats puffer fish as a delicacy, even though its highly poisonous!

I was thinking closer to home actually. Those thousands of people who descend on the Sydney Fish Markets each Christmas and Easter (except for this year) are in a wet market. Queen Vic Markets in Melbourne, the same.
Some people just don't seem to understand that you don't have to go to Asia to find a wet market. They are not, in and of themselves, evil.

Sheesh - You & I are living with ' wild animals' .
OK then.
(Never been to Asia - never been hungry - never gone without - no idea of wondering where your next meal is coming from - no idea - basically).

Is anybody else sick of Scomo popping up on TV just to tell us what a great job he is doing? Just like Trump; does he really think that if he tell us often enough we actually believe it?
This afternoon I settled down with my Knitting to watch a house restoration in Ireland, when "Breaking News" interrupts the program, but it is just Scomo, repeating pretty much the same as he said yesterday. Yes, i know we are in better situation than most countries, bu that has nothing to do with the government's efforts.
And I still have not been able to get the flu shot. Our chemist told me they have not received any this year yet. The doctor either had them once and ran out, or did not have them at all, or keep getting them and running out immediately.
