Shouldn't he be spewing vitriol at Dan?
After all, if Gladys sneezes she has infected the entire country.
actually i did have a 'go' at victoria and how they are handling the virus a few days ago and got told
'we are quite happy with our govt and dans the man'
my view is both dan and his govt are failing big time
and allowing borders to be open and footy teams to be wandering out into other states makes me very angry.
David, I think you need to look at your own government to keep out the footy players.
Queensland has sunk the boot in -
But I don't think the footy season should have gone ahead anyway.
They're all idiots IMO

read my thread about the AFL
i say even though the team i support is sitting pretty at the top undefeated i
dont think the season should have gone ahead
its a fake season created just to apease the TV gods that now control the game
whoever wins the GF will allways be 'oh but that was 2020 when its doesnt count'
its a meaningless season
so we have teams of players flying about during a pandenic risking the health of many
to all involved, players, clubs, the AFL and govts SHAME ON YOU

Mitigation has been to embarrassingly successful
In VIC is time to be draconian - seal off those suburbs , door to door searches , testing of everyone, gaol for the duration for disenters, effective house detentions and real social isolation, shoot blockade runners - until totally removed
Was mid/late winter when the pandemic took off in China - anyone out there taking note of other countries experiences or do we think can not happen here ? It is the same virus - or are we to cosy ? China is sable rattling to divert attention away from their new reality - read between the lines
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I don't know which totalitarian country you live in but I can't see it being very popular here 🤣

I just note what happened in other countries whose attituide is the same to yours .... does not anyone learn ? , but to late when enough people locally suffer coughing out their lungs -
The time of season and curb is similar to China at 1st Feb ,
although fortunately for us our winter is milder , and has been alot of mitigation as evidenced by also relatively little serious flu cases, We have less high density housing , less air pollution and more sunshine - however the spontanious hotspots is a worry which is why i am in favour of draconian measures - however i hope I am wrong , time soon will tell , we do not want to get caught sitting on our hands like at the start of the recent bushfires

China is the most advanced country dealing with post-pandemic covid-19 and something has put the wind up them as they are not messing around with similar hotspots

says the guy who lives in a state that has the luxury of so few border crossings.
Just how many state border crossings does SA have David? (a quick glance shows 1 to WA, 1 into NT, 1 into Qld, 1 into NSW, about 10 into Vic . . . but these are estimates)
There are probably some unsealed roads into SA as well.
The Vic/NSW border alone has about 50 crossings.
david, I live in a border town (actually I live less than 2km from the Murray) and there are two bridge crossings near me, one in Mildura and one at Yelta/Curlwaa. Closing these border crossings near Mildura is just not practical.
Here are some reasons that out-of-towners might not know about:
- there is no major well equipped hospital in NSW here. NSW residents needing hospitalisation generally come into Victoria . . . especially if suspected of having COVID
- the shortest route for Robinvale Vic residents to get to Mildura Vic (and vice versa) is to cross into NSW at Robinvale/Euston and then back into Vic at Buronga/Mildura
- many people live in one state but work in the other. I lived in Vic for over 25 years while working in NSW.
- we don’t have active cases here on either side of the border. Mildura LGA (which is huge) has had only 5 cases (none active for well over a month or more)
- border closures would not prevent people from crossing the border as the Murray River can not be effectively patrolled (when I lived in Dareton NSW in 1988 I once swam to Victoria!)
Bottom line is that it is not as simple as saying “close the border”.

I live within an hours drive of the Vic/SA border, I can name at least 7 border crossings in my area, not counting the back roads. There are pros and con re the border closures, 1/2 the shoppers in Mount Gambier come over from Vic, so the shop keepers are really suffering there atm

I used google maps to try to work out how many SA/Vic border crossings there were.
I think WA has it easy with manning border crossings as they only have 5, with only two of those sealed.
