Re: Coronavirus update

Yes they are moving smartly to provide for the residents, but I have to wonder why the residents couldn't have been given say 24 hours warning at least to get the basics  they need.    I suppose the food provisions will improve  but there are numerous horror  stories of what some people received initially.   Also many individual ethnic groups made large deliveries but the goods  were turned away because of possible infection.   I think I  would rather risk the infection from the supplies than have no food.......  foolhardy or not.

Re: Coronavirus update

If these numbers keep rising, there's a chance Andrews might lock down Melbourne or possibly the whole state by the end of the week.

What are the NSW-Victoria border closure rules, how will the restrictions be enforced and who can apply for a border permit?

i heard on radio the military will be brought on to control all crossings

hey david, in a couple of days Iโ€™ll head off down to the Chaffey Bridge and see if they have set up on the Vic side of the bridge.  If they have Iโ€™ll take some pics and post them here for all to see.

Nothing I can do if they have set up on the Buronga side of the bridge as you canโ€™t see it from the Vic side . . . and I wonโ€™t have a permit to go to the other side (not going to risk a fine just to get a pic).

Having driven over the bridge many thousands of times I would guess they will set up on the NSW side of the bridge as it has a longer stretch of road to help manage the expected line of waiting vehicles.  The short distance from the 7th street roundabout to the permit checking area would cause traffic to back up on both sides of the roundabout on 7th Street and San Mateo Ave. This would necessitate some traffic management at the roundabout to manage the flow of traffic onto the bridge approach. Much easier to set up on the NSW side (see map in spoiler).

Spoiler
blue rectangle would be check point, yellow line represents bridge approaches (not suitable to stop traffic here) and red lines show where traffic would back up for checking (map shows both possible checking points)

In 24 hours they would scamble all over Victoria to relatives - like what happened early days in Wuhan with millions jumping ship ( so to speak ) - anyhow why the sudden shortage of food ? can not tell me that they only have one days supply and need to shop each day
