the permit check point here has been set up on the NSW side of the border. There is an abc story on their news website that includes vision of the check lint in Buronga (it is about half way along the red line in the map I posted in a previous post).
I just got got off the phone to a friend who lives in Buronga and she said a bus load of police arrived yesterday. She saw them getting off the bus with bags and bags of gear. Looks like they have bolstered the number of police on the NSW side of the river.

it looks like they've tried to pinpoint whether the virus was mainly in the northern and western suburbs, but in today's figures, new cases have popped up nearly everywhere... so a lockdown there has to be
Family of 4 from Melb visted and stayed in Port Fairy for three days, now they have all tested positive to the virus, goodness who they have given it to during their stay. Our area is virus free and we would like to keep it that way, so I pleased that Melb has been shut down, we really need to get this horrible virus under control asap
Survival rates are very high in Australia but i have seen local survivors on TV and while they spoke well and seemed healthy now - they had aged like 10 years older compared with pre-infection pics , leaner face and greyed , so another motivation to eradicate this damaging virus - is not like severe Flu survivors who recover same health.

Why do some have no empathy for others, it is a trait I hate but seems to be happening mre and more
I do have empathy to others, but pension nowadays is just under $1000 a fortnight and as far as I know people living in the housing commission properties pay 20% of their income in rent. That leaves $800 per fortnight. That is not bad, and in no way living from cheque to cheque, running out of food the week before pension day. Old people who pay market value rents, or those who have houses and pay rates, and need to pay for repairs and upkeep of their properties, are in considerable worse position.
I did big shop in ALDI yesterday, buying about double or triple than I would normally, and it came to $80, then today I got all the veg and fruit I could plus $15 bucket of honey and it cost me under $40.
Yes, I saw also the woman claiming her grandmother does not have food. They did not prevent her from passing the parcel to somebody, they just did not allow here to enter the building. If the old lady cannot come down she can ask one of her neighbors to go down and collect it for her. From the reports I saw there is a strong community in those buildings and people are looking after each other. They are not confined to their appointments, they are not allowed to leave the building.
There are number of charities that are bringing food parcels and meals.
In meanwhile many people who lost everything in the fires are living in tents and caravans without running water, and the remnants of their houses are only just now starting to be removed (due to the COVID19). There are tough times ahead for many people, and some will be affected worse than others, but looking at what is happening overseas and in our refugee concentration camps, we are still lucky.
If I was bringing something for resident of that building I would have attached note saying "please, take to Susan in flat 102" or what ever.

Unfortunately it seems VIC-gov has a dream-state fixation with China .... awed by Chinese International consumption culture-think and trade successses but doomed to follow down the same pathway, like a rodent mesmorised by a tubby smiling python - unless enough people unbeguiled snap the State out of lethergy - which is starting to happen thanks in part to NSW
