Sydney has tested covid positive in the sewers for awhile now - so no surprise would emerge above ground ( so to speak ) ...... although this time seems is a US strain brought in by flight crews - apparently after some breaking quarantine ( pretty please stay in quarantine ) and infecting hapless locals

As for the long wait times - 4 - 6 hours - for responsible citizens seeking precautionary testing  - service unreasonably delayed implies service denied - ones wonders the agendas of some departments of influence

There are now 10-15 minute test kits approved in the US - i think some have been developed here in Australia

Might be an ideal to release here for testing all those disembarking in Australia

Re: Coronavirus update

Professor Bowtell said the federal government needed to step in and fix the hotel quarantine system.

Under the Biosecurity Act 2015, the federal government had the emergency powers to take any necessary measures to prevent and control COVID-19.

But they are letting the country down by not implementing better practices for hotel quarantine, Adjunct Professor Bowtell said.

โ€œYou donโ€™t have anyone in control and responsible for quarantine and airports. There needs to be a director of quarantine,โ€ he said.

University of New South Wales epidemiologist and World Health Organisation expert adviser Mary-Louise McLaws said the NSW outbreak was a โ€œtipping pointโ€, with a flawed quarantine system that needs fixing and contact tracers still yet to identify patient zero.

We are at a tipping point and this is quite serious and it has all happened because the quarantine and the entry into the country isnโ€™t quite tight enough,โ€ Professor McLaws said.
The quarantine system for overseas arrivals has failed to consider โ€œthe issue of human behaviourโ€, the COVID-19 expert told the ABC.

โ€œYou canโ€™t have a system that requires everybody to do the right thing,โ€ she said.

โ€œThey either donโ€™t know what the right thing is if they have arrived, and human nature is often we think we can beat the system and so that needs to be tightened up.โ€

Professor McLaws said the outbreak could โ€œpotentially go on for at least another seven days because seven days is an average incubation periodโ€.

this would be the same premier telling other states to get on with opening boarders

here we are and her states spreading the disease AGAIN!

she should have locked down her state as soon as she had evidence of this latest outbreak.

Re: Coronavirus update

Limits will also be placed on public activities.

Dancing will not be permitted in public, except for no more than 20 people at weddings. Singing and chanting will also be banned, except for places of worship allowed to have five people doing that activity.

Not again...

Our local Woolworths shelves were empty of toilet paper yesterday.

Luckily, IGA had plenty.
