We have 14 cases in NZ now, people coming back from over seas.
Then they complain about having to lock down, say it is like Prison, food is awful Boo Hoo, same are so ungrateful about saving their own and others lives.
Perhaps they should have stayed where they were

But what has had authorities worried over the past week is the recent increase in cases of
"community transmission", where the source of the infection is unknown.
So the possibility of some not knowing they have it and passing it on or they have it and aren't willing to own up or
do the test?
Getting tested is not that easy in this moment. My daughter took her child to be tested and there was a long wait, about an hour, and half of that time they had to stand outside in this bitter cold. Then she decided to have herself tested as well, and she had to wait for over an hour again. Both came back negative.
To put the Victorian outbreak in perspective. The USA had +36,646 new cases in the past 24 hours, we (Australia) had 29, out which 18 were in Victoria. That's about 1,250times as many. OK, Australia has population 25,500,000 and the USA 331,002,651, that makes it about 13x as many. But per capita it is still 100 as many per day, and I won't even bother to compare the one death over the past 4 weeks, to the tens of thousands in the USA.
Omg I had no idea how bad it was the USA
They are obviously less resilient to internal economic disturbances that what we are

In VIC 30% are supposed to be not observing strict quarantine requirements - up north in NT they read the riot act today and sounded like they meant that

Do not submit to random testing when requested ? - should not eligible for medicare for any reason.
In fact would be reasonable to assume that those that do not submit to requested testing are considered to be infected

This is of concern. Overnight the U.S recorded another 40,000 cases as did Brazil. On the plus side, Biden leads Trump by 8-10 points in the polls.

Their other problem is that their annual supply of replacement workers is on hold , which will add to economic woes
Without the contagion the Prez would have romped-in their next election - success promotes popularity but conversely....

And there were reports that in some areas the conservative politicians instructed to downplay the COVID19 death by putting on the death certificate "pneumonia" instead of "COVID19", which of course is technically correct, but skewed the stats. But even with that the reported cases in the last 24 hours +40,184 and +649 dead, officially.

The economy was starting to slow down before the pandemic. Trump has not gained new supporters over the years, but managed to ennoy lots of people, even many conservatives will vote for Biden. Yes there was a danger that he could have won if he stood against Bernie, but why do you think he was trying to get Biden out of the race?
