I'm sure Scomo will be thrilled to hear of your idea. He won't even consider paid sick leave for casual workers even though it is quite clear that the lack of it is causing sick people to continue working.
I suppose full timers are covered by workcover sick leave - the teeming masses of casuals are not , so my concern is for the casuals as some like, what is it 34% ? , will be tempted to continue working after being swabbed and even if tested positive but not feeling moribund.
As discussed I think if a State emergency situation is declared , the federal full compensation of lost earnings for casuals should be provided.
Should not be that expensive a support compared with the benefit of greater compliance
Isolation awaiting results , 4 days +/- x (average hours worked x wage per hour)
Isolation positive non-life threatening >30 days x (average hours worked x wage per hour)
Hospitalisation incl free ambo : until discharge (one way or the other) x ( average hours worked x wage per hour ) + free taxi home upon discharged living
Is peace of mind for casual workers in an emergency status State who can still work and including home casual based workers
