Remember the wombat quiz someone posted some months ago? Here's one to test your knowledge about crocodiles.
Hafta admit, even though I live in the Top End, I only managed 7/10

I used to live in Darwin (and Cairns) but I avoided crocodiles.

I thought so.
I have heard of croc sightings at either Howard or Berry Springs, but when we went there they were in the bush, not part of suburbia, and freshies were the only crocs around.

They are everywhere now. When I came to Darwin in 1977 they were in pretty small numbers and rarely seen but they are a real danger now in most of the waterways. Berry Springs is regularly closed every year now because of sightings, but I have only heard of freshies in Howard Springs.
They pull an average of around 300 salties out of the harbour every year - have traps set all over the place. This time last year, we had overseas visitors so went 'touristing' to Corroboree Billabong. It was no trouble spotting the crocs - they were everywhere you looked. Dozens of them. And they aren't scared of boats or people.
