on your sandwich bread.
They have a purpose.
They are the edible lines of a colouring in book.
The butter and other spreads are supposed to go all the way to the lines!
And no filling is supposed to go outside the lines!
Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

A ham sandwich walks into a bar.
The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve food here."

Just googled.
It appears that people with curly hair were prosperous. So too people who had bread; they were prosperous enough to afford it.

*sigh* I was told that too, I suspect it was to encourage children to eat their crusts. To this day I still eat my crusts but my hair is as straight as you could imagine.
